Help with the popping sound under drivers left foot.
Everytime I turn and hit a bump my X pops under drivers floorboard.
I remember something about a TSB for a bushing. Does anyone else remember more? Mine, Dad's, and my Cousin's X all do it.
Re: Help with the popping sound under drivers left foot.
My dealer changed out the cab mounts and tightened swaybar and problem went away for now

Re: Help with the popping sound under drivers left foot.
The dealer replaced the front left body bushing. the only did that after replacing the left rear and thr problem was still there. It's been ok for 15K miles now, but every once in awhile I'll hear it again.

Yeap it be that doggon swaybar hitting the left side of the frame, once in great while it'll tap the frame but that's about it.
I found it kinda strange to see the assembly line used some type of grease lube on the U bracket bushings, must be easier to slide the bushings onto the bar perhaps.

Re: Help with the popping sound under drivers left foot.
Are you positive its not the seat? My left seat track on my 2K2 truck is loose, power seat, and it feels just like the floor is flexing. The pop is just like a floor flex, but if you grab the back of the seat and the bottom front, you can make it clunk. Mine goes in on Monday, replacement, not serviceable, all rivets

Re: Help with the popping sound under drivers left foot.
First check the front sway bar where it bolts to the frame. Look inside left front wheel well and see if the frame wax is worn off around the nut, if so the bolt is loose. Tighten all the sway bar hardware at links and on the axle. Since you mention it happens when you turn it may be a loose sway bar mount.
If you feel more of a clunk under you feet than this fix may help.
You can replace the cab mount bolt and lower insulator without replacing the cab mount and resolve the problem. The parts are about $40. It takes about 10 minutes. Pull the kick panel and pull back the carpet under the drivers feet. Remove the rubber plug and you will see the bolt. Remove the bolt and pull the insulator from under the vehicle. Replace the parts and don't over torque, I think the bolt requires 80 Nm. If you overtighten the threads in the insulator will strip. This is more than likely what you feel under you feet over bumps.
Re: Help with the popping sound under drivers left foot.
My wife's 2001 did the same thing at 34,000 miles so I took it in and they replaced a frame mounting bolt and bushing under the foot area. Now it is doing it again at 48,000 miles. Even though Ford only guarantees the work for 10,000 miles they are going to do an adjustment for me at 20% of the repair. Should be about $30. The Ford tech checked for service bulletins concerning this matter and found nothing. You would think they would come up with an appropriate fix for this annoying problem! I guess every 10,000 miles or so I will be going to Ford for a new bolt and bushing. I thought about replacing it myself for $35.00 (parts price) but the tech said to let Ford do it or else they'll blame me for installing it wrong if there are problems in the future. Good luck.
