Here's my dilema

I'm old, sold my boat, but am keeping my X even though I will never tow again. 89K miles on it. Problem is that it throws the wife around the cab on a bumpy road, she hates it and whines every time we go somewhere in it. Because of its range and carrying capacity we use it for 5-6 hr occasional trips.

What would it take to make an X ride like a Cadillac or is that even possible? The problem of hitting the bump stops also jars her and sets her off. Everything on the truck is stock. Shocks have never been changed nor the springs.

Could one of you knowledgeable spring and shock experts give me a hitlist of things to do to soften the ride for a strictly highway truck now?

Thanks.

V codes, modified B's, a call to Caryt for shocks.

I wouldn't say caddy, per se, but I would call it comfortable.

Made a world of difference for mine.

To start dump the E rated tires if you arn't towing, or at least drop what you have to 50 psi, I have D rated and run them at 40 psi, they are rated for 50, thats the quickest and easiest start. I put the X codes (I got the leafs from a buddy who has an F350 CC, they had like 10,000 miles on them, he told me they were Vs but just last night he said they were the snow plow package front leafs and that they were X codes) and an add a leaf to the front and it helped a lot, so far 200,000 miles and they are still the same height. I just put a bigger block in the rear and thats all. I did replace the shocks with bilsteins and that helped also. So to get it to a Caddy you need to buy a Caddy but there are things you can do and all you need to do is ask....like you have....and you will get all the help you want.

I used U codes up front and F codes out back with two extra leafs. Ride is real nice. I don't think E rated tires make a difference, depends more on tire brand. The old D rated Steeltex rode harder than an E rated REVO. Sorry Motion Man. Do you still make the trip to the UP?

My 04 f350 steers rides nicer than my Ex. I would be interested in how to get my Ex to ride better.

I was amazed how much Radius Rods improved the side to side movement of the X. Especially on rail road crossing. They were the last suspension Improvement I did, and pulled everything together. But first, biggest improvement is better front springs.

Get the springs swapped out. Add the sway... Better yet PM CaryT and he will explain everything and the best way so you only do it once, waste no money, and you get the result you are looking for.
