I believe this was mentioned before. It was somebody thinking about doing it for their business. My concern with that was since it was a business I don't think it would meet legal requirements/insurance issues due to max gross weight. But, for private use I am not sure there is an issue.

Rear doors would be useless in parking lots since 1/3 of the fenders are mounted on the rear doors and you have to open them further anyways to get past the tires.

Since the frame is unique to the Excursion (yes, I know it's similar to the F-series, but it still is not the same) I would be leery of going too high on the rear axle load.

Yes, I think a lowered dually Excursion would look sweet.

thx yeah private use only just want something different, not really concerned about the tow cap. definetly appreciate input. I did see the fender kits and how they are added to the rear door.

I am wondering if I can put the "big truck wheel" on the front and find a "wide look a like single dually wheel for the rear and add a smaller fender flare to still get the look of a wider deep lip wheel in the rear.

Let me know if any one has seen this.Kinda like the drag wheels you see on some wide flared trucks.

And I would definetly lower it

Thx again

This is link to a F450 or F550 chassis with the big truck tires, for something to look at. I don't know if it translates to an Excursion, but iirc they used a reversible Alcoa rims with the rears at a wider stance than the fronts.

Thanks for the reply,........wow those photos are amazing. I have actually foud a "super single wheel". Its exactly what they have . Its 22 x 12. I would need an 8-10 lug adaptor. I would put the big rig wheels on the front. with adaptors also.

I have found direct bolt ons in 19.5 for front but cant find a matching deep dish style rear wheel.

Looks like I am going to have o go with the big rig style.which I really like anyway.

One problem$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
each wheel is about 1,000 a piece and 8-10 adaptors are approx 225 per wheel. Big expense but I will start saving for it. It would be a tottaly different look and would be killer!!!

After grabbing that link for the Earth Roamer Picture, I was exploring their site, dreaming for what might be possible in my old age...

Then I found this set of prototype pictures.

seems like the fender kit can be bought for less than $1000.

I would think adding a 650 front clip would finish it off nicely along with some 38-40" tires.

Those guys unfortunately are crooks. I'd stay away from them if possible. They'll charge your card as soon as you place your order, sit on their butts for a couple months until you call them enough times, then send the fenders COD even though the oprice quoted was supposed to include shipping.

And.... their fenders suck. They look nice, but glass is thin and fit is poor.

I'm brand new to the site, just joined because in my last few years of collecting parts to go dually with my Excursion, I noticed quite a bit of interest from the folks here on the feasibility of a dually Excursion.

Anyway after three years of collecting parts, (trying to find my tires was the majority of that time) This is where I'm at so far.

I've actually done a little more 'glass work and added a Buckstop bumper since these were taken. I'll try to get more pictures up and keep it updated if anyone is interested.

Fenders are stock Ford dually that I cut down and filled and shaped with foam to my liking. Lots of fiberglass work ahead of me.

the last piece of my puzzle before I could start this adventure, were the Michelin 11.00r16 XZL's you see pictured. It's a #*$^ hard tire to find, but it's the only one I wanted for my project, so it was worth the wait.

Let me know what you think! Good or bad.
