Re: Hood blanket on 04's?

I have an 03 with one, it came stock. Did yours not have one? Maybe they think the 6.0 is too quiet for one. I would say get one if not, they hold the heat better when plugged in.

Re: Hood blanket on 04's?

If Ford's rolling em off without the underhood insulation kit,it can be purchased separately I suppose.

On the cold cold nights I cover the hood with one of the heavy packing blankets, helps some with the overnight Oil/engine heaters.

Re: Hood blanket on 04's?

Well I confirmed with the dealer today that any of the SuperDuty's or Excursions rolling off the line since mid December will NOT have the under hood blanket.

I expect to take delivery in a couple of weeks and contacted the dealer to see if they would install it as a missing warranty item at no charge. The only answer I could get was to pay 160.00 for the part so they could install it.

I thought I would write to Ford customer service tonight and see how far that gets me.

Has anyone else been successful in getting the dealer to install this at no charge on a new delivery and if so how?

Regards;

David

I don't know if it will do any good but if you care to voice your opinion to Ford Motor for these kinds of issues I've noted the link below.

Re: Hood blanket on 04's?

I was wondering if someone could tell me how many plastic push pins are needed to install the hood insulator on the 04 Excursion.

Every Ford parts department that I talk to has no idea.
I guess it would make to much sense for Ford to include them as part of the purchase on the insulator.

Anyone know a good source for discounted Ford parts? The dealer wants 160.00 to install this item.

Thanks for the assistance.

David

Re: Hood blanket on 04's?

You can try www.fordpartsonline.com or www.oemfordparts.com and I'm sure someone will come along with others.

I may go that route as well, if Idon't have any luck with Ford or the dealer.

Re: Hood blanket on 04's?

9 large ones that hold the main part of the blanket on. 10 smaller ones that hold the front seal and blanket on.

Re: Hood blanket on 04's?

Yeah it's 16F right now, friggin' BALMY! I was told the blanket was for sound, I didn't believe it & this is the first time I've repeated it. As far as keeping things warm, I don't even bother pluggin' it in til -30F. It always starts. 4 weeks ago snowmobiling up in Canada, it dropped down to -59F, the first time I ever plugged it in & needed too.

Re: Hood blanket on 04's?

psdwanabe

Thanks for taking the time to count those plastic fasteners.

The dealer wants anywhere from .95 to 1.17 for each one of those things.

It still ticks me off that Ford deleted this part during the model year.

David

I get more reaction talking to my cat.

Save your breath (or electrons). They could care less what you think. Deleting the insulation saved them a couple $$. That's all they need to know.

Most people buying a car don't even know how to open the hood.
