Hood blanket- dealer responce

You all are not going to belive this, had the wife call the dealer to complain about lack of a hood blanket. She voiced concern that the lack of a blanket could in the long run allow the heat from the turbo to discolor the paint and would'nt it be easer to provide us with a blanket than to repaint the hood. The service manager who claims to have worked at the ford assembley plant told my wife that there is no concern because the hood is made out of aluminum . Can ya belive it!

I can't wait till the wife gets a hold of the general manager he's not going to like it .

What a Jack Ass he is ! FMC changed to copper hoods in 02. I think when a woman goes in to deal with these characters that they ( the service writers ) automaticaly think they are idiots and can say anything to pacify them. I would certainly call the GM and discuss the situation with him.

Re: Hood blanket- dealer responce

Obviously the service Mgr. is a bit confused. The Super Duty Hood is steel. The Expedition, F-150, Town Car, and possibly Explorer hoods are all aluminum. Perhaps your wife could get him to explain how a magnet sticks to that aluminum hood.

I think by the time she gets through with them she will come back with a hood blanket .

Re: Hood blanket- dealer responce

I took my 'X to a different dealer today and mentioned that the hood blanket was missing. The service guy seemed to be interested in getting it replaced. I'll see how that goes.

Re: Hood blanket- dealer responce

I would make this guy look like a complete fool. I can't stand the stupid service managers. They treat my mom the same way whenever she takes the X or our focus in for service. I take everything in myself when because my dad works nights. I make sure I look up every piece of information on whatever it is going in for so I make sure i am as knowledable as possible.

Have your wife go in there and have a meeting with the service manager and the GM. Make sure she takes a magnet with her!
