Hi. I've got a 2001 PSD Excursion, a WD chip, and now a SES light that won't go off. Does someone around here have a Autotap that can scan my rig? I want to have some info before I go to the dealer. I've pulled the chip, and still have the light. I need to get this done tonite or tomorrow, cause it's got to go in to the dealer on Tuesday. Heck, I'll buy you dinner! Email me if you can help out. I'm going to post on the other lists too...
I have one, but I live in Dallas. I will be in Houston on a business, later in the week. If you care to wait, I can bring it with me. It only takes a few minutes to scan.

I appreciate the offer, but I need to have it done today or tomorrow because I drop it off at the dealer on Tuesday morning.
I know exactly what you mean. I've experienced the very same problem many times and finally just pulled my chip and have left it out. If you leave it out and continue to drive the truck, it will turn itself off dependant on how many times the truck is recycled(started and stopped). The PCM will only hold "X" amount of recycles and then starts to write over itself and the code no longer exists. I don't remember how many times this needs to be done, but it seems like it's generally gone off for me after about 3 days. That is with normal starting and stopping to go here and there, etc. Obvisously the more recycles the sooner it will relieve itself. Good luck with it.

Yup. Disconnected for 20 mins or so while I was pulling the chip. Started up, no light. Then about 10 secs later, light comes on. Don't think this one is going to reset. I wish I knew what it was for. Ah well, my local ford dealer will be happy to tell me I'm sure.
PSDExcursion GOOD LUCK and let us know what and how you come out. May help someone else in the future.
Take care,

Problem solved. I had it scanned and got a P0677 code. No one knew what that was, but was answered here on the board: It's a glow plug circuit failure, cylinder #7 specifically. (wow!) Anyway, got it into the dealer, he found that the glow plug control module was bad. He replaced that, and all is well.
Chip goes back in today.
