Wondering what the biggest size tires I can run on stock rims without doing a spring mod or lift kit. I just want a beefier look with improved traction. Also any recomendation on good tires for traction in mud with cood highway wear. Thinking BFG's. Thanks

I would recommend the BFG AT's. I have 285's on both trucks. No lift but: I replaced the front springs on the X with some off a F350. Very good improvement and not to bad of a job. If you do not replace the
D-code factory X springs you can fit 285/75/16 BFG but may have some minor rubbing issues. Usually the front/corner edge of the black plastic airdam under the bumper. Also the fender skirt may touch in the rear of the wheel well. If you want to avoid rubbing and no lift stay with the 265/75/16.
285's here with absolutely no rub or touch anywhere.
Every one is different. Some can go 295's without rubbing, some can't. Some can actually go 305's which is rare. The problem is the skinny OEM wheels. Even my 285's don't fit like I'd like them to, with the tread even on the ground all the way across.

I tried to up the tires to 285's when I first got the X...waste of money IMO The X just begs for a wider rim, 9-10" the stability a wider rim will give you is worth every cent. I also feel that the X MUST be lifted with SD springs, 30mm rear sway bar and good shocks to make it safe.

If you want to change rims, a 305-50-20 on 8.5x20 inch rims will fit stock on a 4x4.

For a year I ran 295/75/16 BFG AT's on 16x8 AR Atlas rims with no rubbing ever.
Picked up a set of 265/75/16 Ravo's on 16x8 Centerline rims and they rub. Paid $200 for the set with 200 miles on them! Garage fire burnt the top tire.
The overall tire size is a good inch shorter on the Ravo's but the rim offset causes the tire to rub.
Not sure which tires I like better yet. First set of BFG's got me 80K miles. Second set had two blow outs by 40K miles but the other two have an easy 70K miles on them.
