Re: How can I disable the reverse sensing system for extended periods of time?
I just looked at it also, As I carry a 25 cubic foot ADDA-TRUNK back there at times. interrupting the back up light signal at connector C421 (or splice S319 if you could find it) sounds about the simplest.
Just have to remember to turn it bak on! or it could get expensive

Re: How can I disable the reverse sensing system for extended periods of time?
Okay - One more step. Make it look right with a factory switch in a good, well protected location.
I will be watching. I need this. I hate the sensors when towing but otherwise, mine are great.

Re: How can I disable the reverse sensing system for extended periods of time?
I like doing things the hard way. I kind of liking the idea of an automatic disconnect when the trailer plug is being used. But a disconnect switch will work; hook up the trailer and flip the switch. Just do not forget to turn it back on when unhooking.

Re: How can I disable the reverse sensing system for extended periods of time?
If you disconnect the speaker useing a lighted switch in the rear it will remind you that it is off when you turn your head to backup. You can also run the switch up front with simple speaker wire, should cost less than a couple of bucks.
Its amazing what we can do when we put our ideas together.
Re: How can I disable the reverse sensing system for extended periods of time?
I disabled mine in behind the right rear facia. i followed the wire harness up from the bumper and found the siren (beeper) for it. i simply unplugged it there. the light on the dash stays lit all the time but the irratic malfunctioning sensors were on my last nerve and we didnt use the silly thing anyway.
this might help those of you trying to figure out a less permanent solution. you could maybe install a waterproof switch at your trailer harness area.

Re: How can I disable the reverse sensing system for extended periods of time?
It would at least remind us that it is off.I would hate to forget and back into something. That would really suck!
Re: How can I disable the reverse sensing system for extended periods of time?
I agree;my sensors work great unless they are real dirty which I do not let happen often. My problem is when I get in my company truck and forget that I do not have the sensors. Isn't that what bumpers are for.
But, if placing a waterproof switch in line will turn the sensors off and light the "off" light on the dash, that would be great. Can anyone confirm this.
