How to deactivate dome light for drive in?

I've looked everywhere to find this in the manual, and I'm sure that its probably in there, but how do you deactivate the dome lights in the excursion at the drive in. Can't even sit in the cargo area without those lights on!!!

Re: How to deactivate dome light for drive in?

The answer is you can't. You could put a switch in the line to disable the interior lights. I believe there is a single wire in the passenger kick panel area that if cut will disable the interior lights only. You will need to access a wiring diagram to find the connector and pin number.

Ok thanks so much..I thought I might be losing my mind looking for it in the manual. I check out the wiring diagram.

Re: How to deactivate dome light for drive in?

At the risk of showing my age, what "drive in" are you talking about? Do they still have drive in movies?

Anyway, to answer your question, if you climb over seats you can sit anywhere without the lights on. run the engine, turn off the key and don't open any doors. Climb over seats to get where you want to go. That should be fun for your girlfriend...lol No lights come on till you open a door. That's the way it is in my X.

Re: How to deactivate dome light for drive in?

after 10 minutes all power is cut to open switches until the pin is reactivated. This is how we camp in the X with the back open. Just leave the rear doors/window open and by the time the movie starts the relay will cut the juice.

Re: How to deactivate dome light for drive in?

open the doors and then latch the offending latches, a small screwdriver will help. Don't slam the doors though with them latched because it makes a awfull noise.

Re: How to deactivate dome light for drive in?

Not sure I understand this. My interior lights go off when I turn the key. don't they stay off if the key is in the ignition?

Re: How to deactivate dome light for drive in?

After I think it's 2 minutes, mine go out completly and the only way to get them to come back on is to close the door and I think I had to key cycle. It keep you from leaving a light or radio on without the key and leaving it.

Hey, this ranks up there with the no light for low washer fluid.

Re: How to deactivate dome light for drive in?

I forgot which one, but I just started pulling fuses until the lights went out. The stereo still worked. I pulled the fuse if the light stayed on I reinstalled it, eventually...bingo. Remember to have a flashlight or it will be a ***** to reinstall the magic fuse. I was at the drive-in doing it you can practice at home first.
