Was trying to sleep in the X (a little rest before Bass tounament in the morning) and every time my bud opens the door it's instant 9 point illumination. Can the interior lights be overidden?

Re: How does one disable the interior lights?

I looked thru the book manual and couldn't find any language how to disable like the warning chime procedure, perhaps Jeff knows something more than the manual.

An option would be to split the front and rear interior lamps into two individual circuits ran by a similar flat rocker three position switch, position 1 front on,2 all off,3 front and rear on.

Just a thought

Re: How does one disable the interior lights?

There was a thread on this a while back. There is no Ford procedure in the manual, but I thought that I saw something involving a dead chicken and some garlic.

I'll search to see if I can find it.

Re: How does one disable the interior lights?

There is no factory over ride but I beliew a few members figured a way to put in a switch in the circuit to kill the lights. Try to do a search.

Hope this helps,

The originator of this mod was user WRA. Here is the original post. Unfortunately, photopoint no longer exists, so you will have to contact Jon directly to see if he still has the images - which were great by the way.

Re: How does one disable the interior lights?

I have the same problem when I go camping. It is very simple. There is a relay for interior lights in the relay box underneath the dash driver side. Just open the box by hand, pull out the relay adn the automatic interior lights are off but they can still be turned on mayally at each light- the light dimmer switch will not turn them all on. When you want to return to norman just plug the relay back in. Simpler solutions are better.

Re: How does one disable the interior lights?

agapemou, that's a good idea'r too maybe add a switch inline from the relay out to the lamps

Re: How does one disable the interior lights?

I pulled out the fuse and ran switch from the fuse hot side to fuse accessory side with a couple of mail spade connectors. I put the fuse back inline on the hot side.

It takes the power windows with it, but at least now I have a dash switch to kill the lights when I want to. It took about 10 minutes to do and is reversible in about 2 minutes.

I also found this post and thought about yanking the box, but that was too much work:

Posting on dome lamp override
