I duck hunt quite a bit . I had a Expedition , stock EDDIE BAUER with buckshot mudders on it . It did pretty well on muddy farm roads and stuff like that . Never really got it stuck but drove it in some slop for sure . I was just wondering what you guys experiences have been with the mud and what you would reccommend I add to my 05 EX EDDIE BAUER do make sure I don;t stick that big boy .

Muddy dirt roads - OK. Just remember that the rear limited slip is marginal at best and the Ex is quite heavy (8000+ lbs). Not a good combination for really deep stuff. Know your truck's limits. Definately get better tires (ie mud-oriented) and don't get in above your head as 8000+ lbs is alot to pull out of a ditch!

They are tuff in the mud due to the weight. My lockers help and I assume good mud tires. But, I don't go mudding as much as other off road adventures (beach, desert) so all terrains are better for me. I can tell you DO NOT spin too much and dig in. You will be in trouble then. I have four 4 foot long 2x6 boards with traction plates nailed on them that lay flat behind the third seat for when I get stuck. Place them under the edge of the tires and crawl on out. The cheapest and best way to get out of a bad situation. Just don't wait too long before acknoweldging your stuck and have to get out. These things are heavy and even another superduty will have a hard time pulling you out.

It does ok as long as I'm mindful of it's limitations. But the kind of mud you have to deal with duck hunting especially around river bottoms can swallow an X pretty fast. Even one that is lifted with big mudders. And I've buried more than my share of vehicles from motorcycles to 4WD John Deeres up in the Forked Deer river bottoms up around Dyersburg. A lot of that mud will sink you to the axles before the tires ever get a chance to spin around once.
A wise old timer told me that the purpose of 4WD was to get you stuck far worse than you ever thought you could in a 2WD vehicle. He said you should use 2WD to get around and only use 4WD to get you out.
i don't have one...yet...but that was the first thing that popped in my head
