How many miles do you get on a tank?

I am amazed at the range of our new excursion.

With 94,000 miles on it, and no performance mods except a TS Chip, it is getting over 800 miles on a tank. I am really impressed.

Is this the norm for these trucks?

Thanks,

Chris

Re: How many miles do you get on a tank?

It varies. On trips I usually get 650-700 on 3/4 tank. Never run down below a 1/4 tank. No mods to engine or exhaust.

Re: How many miles do you get on a tank?

Ya, it's pretty normal if you're running the HWY and run it that far down. Obviously it's not easy to do if you're only doing 200-300 mile one way road trips.

Most of my longer trips are with the boat in tow so 500-600 is more like it.

Re: How many miles do you get on a tank?

Hi 'nagle,

On a recent trip to Florida, I drove at about 70 mph the entire trip. The Lie-O-Meter stated about 690 miles DTE after I stopped to fill up. I just stopped to fill up twice the whole trip. I have never let the tank get below 1/4, so, I have never explored the lower limit. (I have always heard not to run a diesel completely empty.) Craig.

I've pushed just a hair under 900, all highway - took 43 gallons out of 44 on fill up. my lie meter is pretty accurate.

Re: How many miles do you get on a tank?

Lie-O-Meter is pretty accurate on mine and it says 960 miles on a full tank of gas, and i get 19.4mpg highway and city combined.

Re: How many miles do you get on a tank?

Good mileage. I'd have to keep it around 60-65 mph to get that. Very difficult on Michigan interstates where the average speed is around 80 mph. Detroit home of the brave.

Re: How many miles do you get on a tank?

I don't think in the worst case scenario, and dogging the crud out of mine, I could get as low as 400 miles.

Sorry to rub it in.

Re: How many miles do you get on a tank?

Looks like I'll see 550 from this tank (gas V10). City driving and a 280-mile round trip to Ft. Belvoir near DC.
