How much are 2000-2003 Excursions? Questions inside

Greetings! I have been trolling this site for years. Just have no had much time to post.

I am looking for a 7.3, limited, 4 x 4 with low miles. The ones I have found with low miles are typically 2002-2003 models. I found this one on ebay and it is perfect. Ford : Excursion:eBay Motors (item 160377726026 end time Nov-19-09 11:14:11 PST)
However, KBB suggests that I pay around $19.5 rather than high 20s.
Condition Value
Excellent
$19,035
I might add, I'm in the military overseas so my money is tight and my time is even tighter so I don't want to waste it in the wrong place. Any information you can pass my way in regards to 7.3 Excursions, helpful hints, places to buy, and suggest prices are going to help me out alot. I know there are a ton of ones out there with 100k+ miles but we my wife and I would particularly like a low mileage one.

With that said, if you have one for sale and it's in great condition, let me know.

Thanks and take care!

Justin

First of all, thank you for your service!
I can't tell you much about low-mileage vehicles, but I can tell you for sure that these trucks are the bomb. You may have missed your ideal window by ~12 months, b/c they were selling for half price last fall when diesel was $4.50 a gallon!
Don't know where you're stationed, but the Metro Atlanta area had a bunch of them when I was looking, and randomly, Taylorsville, NC - check out Hoyle Auto Sales - they seem to always have a number of PSD's in stock.
I would think you should be able to find a 7.3 with under 100k for under $15k if you're vigilant & ready to move when you find one. Auto Trader online!

THANKS for your service

That one is nice but not worth 28,900 IMHO. I bought mine in March of this year for $16,500 ... 2002 XLT 7.3L with 75,000 miles. Here in Texas the low mileage 7.3L are worth good money. I had been casually looking for over a year. I drove to Arkansas to pick mine up. I am very happy with it.

Already put some X-springs on mine along with F350 blocks and new wheels and tires.

Good luck in your search.

16,500 for a 2000 with 81k miles...

Expensive, but I was happy with it. Not like I could go out and buy a new one! It is in very good shape.

Thanks for the comments!!

My wife is actually from North Georgia and we are going to have her uncle check the truck out and drive it home so that would be great if I could find one local.
I found this one on cars.com
2002 Ford Excursion Limited, $29,988 - Cars.com
It's pretty awesome throughout! The wife loves it and that means I get the green light. He came down to $28.5 for it. I did search online for Atlanta dealers but came up empty. It's hard to find low mileage like this. Especially one owner, low mileage. Thanks so much for your replies!

I checked the Hoyle Autos and they have 1 X but it's high mileage for $6k.

What dealers in Atlanta sell Excursions often? Right now, I am not hesistant on pulling the trigger to fly my wifes uncle to DC to meet with that cars.com dealer I found. I can't put together the right words on google to come up with anything good. I'll keep trying. I have a bit of a one track mind so I need to buy an X before I realize I need a smart car or something silly.

I paid $9000 for my 2000 EX. with 135000 miles. It has a little dent in the rear passenger door and I replaced the windshield. Other typical wear for this 10 year old vehicle. This suits me just fine as I don't have to worry about what happens to it. I park my boat trailer next to others and anything can happen! It's just me, as I don't own anything that is new. I bought from a car lot in Atascadero, Ca. I did look for quite some time for a tow vehicle. After I put $200 down, and was waiting for my loan to go thru, the dealer said he could have sold it many times over to other buyers! I feel I was very fortunate to get this EX., and at that price. I looked at V-10's, and there were alot of them. I just held out for the diesel.

prices are way up on suvs....ford,gm just not building that many. and given ex s arent built any more, low mileage ex s will be worth big $$$ especially if it has a 7.3 imo.
helps keep their lease return value s up.....

they got slaughtered at auction s when gas and diesel was over 4 bucks a gallon.

Thanks for your service on our behalf.

In 2003 we bought a 2000 PSD 4x4 limited with 108,000 miles on it. We rolled 270,000 miles this morning.

We love our X and haven't regretted buying a 100K+ miles vehicle yet. I replaced the alternator this week and the belt tensioner this summer. These were the first engine related repairs we have done. Runs like a champ.

I paid about $20,000 back then, which was a great deal, and they seem to hold their value well.

Good luck.

steve

I looked mine up a while ago, I have an 03 Limited Ultimate, every possible option except captians chairs and it is as clean as new, with the 7.3 and all it said $17,000ish even with 216,000 miles. Plus all the extras, stereo, tires/wheels and all the work setting it up right it would go for this fast. I have no plans but am happy the truck is holding its value. This picture was taken a week ago...and it has never been waxed...ever...but I wash it at least once a week

Thank you for your service.

I got lucky about 4 years ago and picked up my 03 limited. I've had people chase me in to gas stations trying to buy it and have turned down offers of $20,000 for it. It's got 150k now.
I work for a dealer so i'll check the auctions and see if any are going to be running in the next week.

There are a lot less low mileage 7.3 Excursions compared to two years ago. Did a search of the US on autotrader and only found 5 00-03 7.3 excursions with less than 100K miles. Found what looked like a Ford buy back 03 6.0 X with very low miles for $30K.

In 2003 got the 00 X with 104K miles for just over $20K out the door. Since then have done regular maint. stuff but have never had to service the motor or tranny. Last time I drove it it read 205K miles. All fluids syn since 125K miles.

rkik,
What brand rims are those? They look a lot like the ones on my X bought used a few years ago. Gotta say painted they sure look sharp. The previous owner was a painter by trade and painted the inside of the holes to match his truck color.

BTW, if I could buy another X or could have one done would have to go with the blacked out X. Personaly like the idea of forged rods in the 00 X's best.

I ended up buying the ebay one. White/tan mix. The ford dealer that did it's inspection was so amazed at the condition. Had a couple people ask to buy it from them when they did the inspection.

57,000 miles is awesome for an 02. The price is high. I got them down a bit but not too much. It's worth it in the end knowing the car never even went into 4 x 4 or off road or towed alot during it's life.
