I sold my F350 lwb diesel late last year and bought a 1500HD because the F350 was too much truck for my needs. But now I find myself filling the tank every other day. My 26gal tank gets me just over 300 miles then I have to fill-up - I drive 150 miles a day. I'm getting quite tired of the fill-ups.
What kind of range do you guys get off a single tank of HIGHWAY diesel with 4x4?

Now that I use propane too....... 700 per tank easy - getting 17.5 mpg (diesel only) with winter fuel - should go up with summer blend. Before the propane I saw 14.5 mpg on average which got me 600 easily with fuel to spare
Before my foot gained weight, I could go almost the whole way from Wichita, KS to Chicago, Ill on a tank - close to 850 per tank

The mileage range is pretty good considering the size tank
On out last trip and from Phoenix we ranged 600-800 per fill up as there's just a few places in between Dallas and Phoenix and have to sort of "time" your fill ups

Best mileage ever was round trip to Corpus Christi from Dallas. 20.5 mgp or roughly 900 miles on 45 gallons. In town I can get 700-75s0 if I drive "right".
I wonder about the difference between 4 x 2 compared to 4 x 4? The 4 x 2 is lighter, lower, and has less mechanical parts moving. I am soon picking up my 6.0 4 x 2 Eddie. I came out of a 1999.5 dodge Cummins 4 x 2, my brother has a 4 x 4 and I think I get about 2 mpg better. I live in Florida and need 4 x 4 like a hole in the head, while my brother lives in the North of New York and has been digging out snow for the last two months. I think he is glad to have it. Generally 4 x 4 is not necessary for most of us.

On long trips I have gone 800 miles and put about 40 gallons back in the 44 gallon tank. It seemed to trip the "low fuel" light with about 4 gallons left.
The new crewcab with its 29 gallon tank isn't ever going to do that, sigh.

Can do 800 miles fairly easily, without getting too nervous. This is in the summer though when I don't have to use blended fuel. Of course, there are a lot of factors that play into this. Wind, temp, speed(read: wind resistance), terrain, fuel quality (winter/summer blends). Even in the worst of conditions, I would think 500 miles ought to be pretty much guaranteed. 500 miles should be very easy. I average 600-800 miles per tank, depending on conditions and the pressure on my right foot. I've noticed just easing up to 70mph, I gain easily 1 mpg. Remember this thing is a brick, especially the 4x4. I made a trip to Florida last spring and only filled up 3 times, averaging 15.5 mph. I went 12 hrs without a stop once during that trip, but that is hard to do with nature calling, if you know what I mean. I have been filling up here at around 500 miles due to the cold weather and not wanting to experience the gelling problem that I had a few weeks ago with an empty tank.
