Hypertech acting up!

Went to unload PPIII from wifes X this evening ( going into dealer next week for brake work) and can not get it to reload the PATS to stock and it will not start. Have to go back and reload the tuning program and it will crank. Went through this twice more, returning to stock, no start, and back to loading the program and it would crank. I have loaded and download at least a half of a dozen times in the last year with no problems. When the tuning program is in, and I try to return it to stock, it goes through the steps or reloading, but at the end skips the part of reprograming the PATS. Called Hypertech at closing, (guys were trying to get out of the door, real helpful when truck is sitting in the drive not running) all but told me I was skipping the PATS step, kept trying to tell them, I'm not skipping, programer closes out without getting to that step. Any suggestions??

Re: Hypertech acting up!

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I believe you need to do the following "after" returning to stock:

1. leave the key out of the ignition for 1 minutes.
2. Put the key into the ignition and turn to "run" but don't start. Watch the "theft" light. it should be flashing very quickly.
3. Watch the flashing light for 45-60 seconds. It should slow down and go out completely.
4. Turn the ignition off and remove the key completely from the ignition. Wait 10 seconds
5. Turn the key to On - The theft light should now flash normally. When the wait to start light goes out, crank her up and you should be in business.

Just my .02.

Regards,
Dave

Re: Hypertech acting up!

Dave,

Sounds like this is a step that has been left out of my PPIII instruction manual, will try this weekend, to chicken to play with it again this evening and risk the chance of having to tell the better half she is with out wheels!

Re: Hypertech acting up!

Yup, I think that's probably it. Let me know how you turn out. I had a similiar problem with my PATS after putting on my SCMT and found this way of resetting it. Had a brief moment of panic when it was cranking, but not starting. (can't quit grinning now). If you get stuck let me know and I'll scan in a copy of the instructions and send them to you.
