I did it! I'm picking up my new "X" today!

Well, I did it! I pick up my new "X" today. I got a 2004 Excursion 4x4 Eddie Bauer w/6.0L and TQShift. I decided to keep my current truck, a 2003 Chevy DMAX. The truck is wonderful and is flawless. I decided to let my General Manger drive it. This way, if I need a truck, it's just get in it and use it.

I ended up with an Eddie Bauer with all of the bells and whistles. Mineral Grey in color w/Trailer Tow Power Heated Mirrors. My Labs are really going to love me this weekend when we head out for some hunting. No more cold or extremely hot rides in the back of the truck. It's central air and heat for them from now on.

I'll post some pictures shortly. As a matter of fact, the pictures may be on my web shots page by the time you read this. I'll post better pictures later and after all the mods as well.

Yes, Congratulations!

Just curious, what are you hunting this time of year?

Re: I did it! I'm picking up my new "X" today!

Deer, hogs, turkey, quail, and ducks.

This is the last weekend for bucks, ducks, and turkey. Quail is all the way through the end of February. Hogs are year around. Spring Turkey will begin in a few months as well.

Actually, after this weekend, I'll be hunting a lot of Redfish and Trout for a while. Then I'll do a little spring turkey hunting in March, but then right back to the fish again. In February I enjoy hunting the hell out of ferral hogs. February is our coldest month here in South Texas and the hog hunting is unbelievable. When the deer hunting traffic stops, the hogs start to run wild again and you can literally take 3 - 5 hogs per day.

We are performing a hog erradication hunt this year. Our ferral hog population is getting out of hand.

Just a little advice from the owner of a couple of Golden's . . .

If you fold the seats down and let them onto the carpet on the back of the seats you will want to put something down on the carpet to keep the burs and seed pods in their fur from getting into that carpet. I have yet to find an easy way to get seeds and burrs out of that stupid carpet they use on the back of the seats!

Wouldn't trade it for the world though.

Regards,
Dave

Re: I did it! I'm picking up my new "X" today!

Yeah, I've had the same problem on my '03 CC Chevy DMAX. I'd fold the back seats down and let them ride inside the truck. After a hunt, they'd have hair, prickly pairs, and crap in the carpet. Now, I just take the time to spread a sheet over the back side of the seat and remove it when we are done hunting. Wash it and it's clean for next time and no crap on the back side carpet of the seats.

Thank you! I wasn't real sure about it until I finally saw pictures of it. I could not find another close to my home town to see the color. Now that it is in my driveway, I really like it.
