Idiot Light For Washer Fluid

Ok, who is the idiot here, me or Ford? I have twice run out of fluid at a very bad time and it severly impared my vission (no I was not drinking). I have had 1982 chevys with this light. Is mine not working or did Ford forget this? I hope mine is not working or I am going to have to install one. All the technology that goes into this truck makes me believe there is one. The manual and dash (at start up) does not show one.

Re: Idiot Light For Washer Fluid

The idiot would be Ford. There is no "low washer fluid" indicator light. The only indicator is the howl/groan of the pump running dry and a smeared windshield.

Re: Idiot Light For Washer Fluid

Thats what I figured. They spent too much time engineering the trash bag holder Do other SD Fords have something that can be fitted? The reason is that after the smeared windshild comes the blur of a trunk or a big steel or concrete post

Re: Idiot Light For Washer Fluid

They put it in that damn Expedition, trust me, I just got home and the wife asked what that noise was that her truck was making for a week now. It even dings when it gets low, not my Excursion!

Re: Idiot Light For Washer Fluid

I've kinda wondered the same thing about a low washer fluid warning light,so it looks like this thread clears up my curiousity

In other vehicles I've seen the low washer light, guess an extra cheap sensor and wiring was too much for the engineers/designers to handle

To be safe probably top it off when we do an oil change even though we don't use the washer much if at all.

Re: Idiot Light For Washer Fluid

There has to be a way to install this. Even if it is just a light on the dash. I use a bottle every time I travel from Holland, MI to Grand Marais on lake Superior, 7 hours. I can carry an extra bottle but I don't need the thing rolling around so I don't. I'm headed to the Junk Yard and will let you all know. It may be crude but it will be a clean install.
