If the dealer said it , it must be true from Flori-duh
SmokeyWren, Is the speedometer on the Excursion recalibratable ? Sam Galloway Ford in Fort Myers Fl says no it does not have a gem module. What gives? Did Ford change it on
the x? Jeff in truck service says as long as Ford only sells it with on size tires that it eliminated the need for calibration codes. By the line of BS that he gives me, He must think I am a Palm Beach democrat. He also says as long as you truck has the long lead #8 injector you cant have cackle. Can you get me any documentation on calibrating the excursion's speedometer? Can it be done at home? thanks mike

Mike, as I mentionend to you on the other board when you posted similar questions, the actual FORD WIRING DIAGRAM manual shows the GEM module and all kinds of things tied into it. Anybody who flips through this manual and is able to read will quickly see the GEM module on many of it's pages. You just can't miss it! If your dealer is telling you there's no GEM module, then they've NEVER looked at the Ford factory wiring diagram manuals or have NEVER read their factory service manuals.
Next time you talk to this IDIOT 'Jeff', tell him or his manager to go to their own FORD web site and read this procedure for themselves. This is straight out of the 2000 Ford Budy Builders Layout Book and it's on Ford's web site to boot. They shouldn't be able to argue with this, but somehow I get the feeling they still won't understand or want to help you. http://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas/...CROBAT/248.PDF
Good luck in dealing with your dealership. I feel for you and have been through this kind of frustrating crap countless times. Always document everything, names, dates, times, places, conversations, etc. You may need this in the future for other problems if you deal with them.
At the very least, I'd file a written complaint to that dealership's management and ownership and put the ball back in their court. I'd also file complaints with the BBB - Better Business Bureau, Ford, NADA - National Automobile Dealer Association, CBC - Consumers Broadcast Group, etc.
If things go from worse to terrible, you can also make a sign that's posted on the inside of your vehciles rear windows describing how you were treated by the dealership, etc. I've even got together a group of people and picketed outside a dealership and passed out information flyers which frustrated the heck out of them along with hiring lawyers, filing law suits, etc. Things just got to the point one day to where I just wasn't going to take anymore crap from auto dealers and manufacturers and from then on I haven't. I take no pleasure from complaining let alone doing all this other stuff, but sometimes it's the only way to get things done.
Hopefully your dealer reads their Ford manuals, the procedure I posted the link to on the Ford web wite or whatever Smokey provides you with. If that doesn't work, then it's time to stand your ground and become more pro-active by filing written comaplaints and keep a good paper trail. Good luck and I hope things work out smoothly. Just my .02

coldair:
The Gem module controls a lot of electrical circuits on a Ford Super Duty/ Excursion. It has NOTHING to do with speedometer calibration. That is done by using the NGS diagnostic tool and changing values in the ABS module.
If this misinformation on the dealer's part is all true, I would definitely get their responses in writing, they should not be running a service department.
