When you get the DP Tuner set up do you pay more for having more tunes programmed into the system? Does it have the ability to ready fault codes from your computer?

Yes you pay for each code installed. No it is not a code reader. Just yahoo search dp tuner, click F5 under featured products, scroll down to position # and click to see all options and prices.

01 Excursion; The blank chip and switch runs 240.00. Each tune has its own price which is added to the base price. This tuner is made to suit YOUR vehicles options, engine mods, axle ratio, tire size any aftermaket exh. etc. I like the ones I picked, they suit my driving needs

I am looking at increasing my exhaust to 4 inches and adding the DP-tuner as the only mods to my X. I should be able to get by with the similar tunes you have. It is just a simple plug and play system correct? Do you ever tow more the 10,000#? If so how does the 80 tow work? Did you notice smoother trany shifting once you started using the tuner. A little off the subject but I noticed you have a hellwig sway bar, is it only in the back or front too? How do you like it. Thanks for the feedback.

I installed the magnaflow TUNER KIT exh. with has a 3 1/2" head pipe and 4" for the rest. Best for engines running just tuners or chips. The tuner does just plug into computer, but you must pull computer out ( behind emerg. brake pedal ) and clean contact before plugging in.Great Instuctions come with tuner. The most I tow is 7500# max with boat fully loaded with gear. They offer 60 tow for 10K # which would be safer I'm sure. The hellwig ( BIG DIFFERANCE ) in the rear, the stk.front one is fine. Shifting is more precise

I want to know what Finaltheorem47 did. I have NEVER gotten better than 21 on HWY 5 between San Francisco and Los Angeles here in Cali. And that is a straight shot. And when pulling a car carrier with my daughters old BMW on it- loaded to the gills -, and the Ex loaded inside and on top, and with 5 people therein, The best I got was 18 from Provo, Ut to the San Francisco peninsula. But 24/28? Never got close. Not even 21/23. Guessing that 21/23 means 21 around town and 23 on the hiway. Similarly with the 24/28figure.
Finaltheorem47, how do you do it?

I'm happy. I get 19 mpg going 75 (including mountain driving) and it beats my duramax LB7 on the same run. I have 3.5 exhaust, AIS air filter, fuel mods, and DP tuner running the 80 econ tune and uses almost no oil between changes. Of course if I go 65, the whole picture would change.

What do you believe the change would be?

And what fuel mods did you have done?

You mentioned fuel mods. What are they? Is a fuel mod new injectors?

The fuel mods are changing the tank pick up and the connector at the high pressure pump on the frame to prevent air intrusion. Also I changed out the injector in number 8 from the "LL" version to the regular version found in the other 7 cylinders. Also installed a regulator system to increase the fuel pressure to 68 PSI instead of the factory 51 psi and then tied the heads together for a return system so air and so on can get out of the fuel rail of the heads. Do a search on this site for "cackle" and you will have 4 days of reading on the subject. What these mods did for me is give me a very quiet engine (for a diesel that is) and on the last trip from Coeur d' Alene to Sacramento in mountain driving and all speeds, I got 19.25 and the average speed was 64 mph. In town I am getting close to 18.5. Heck when I got this thing if I got 16 on the highway, it was a good day.

With turner I get 12-14 MPG around town
With turner I get 14-17 mpg on highway driving 70 mpg

If I run Oregon or Navada fuel, I get 18-20 MPG on the highway

To boost my MPG in California I run fuel additives. They help my MPG by 1-2 MPG's

All MPG's are hand calc'd... Once you add a tuner the MPG meter lies..... On the meter I've seen 35 MPG!!!! And it was lying!!!!!!

Hey, Jim, I just bought an 03 EX with a 7.3 and live in Redding also. What additives are you talking about?

Thanks
