Installed V and F code springs

Hey all,
I just got through installing V and F code springs and noticed a couple of things: 1) the truck seems to be making a sound when steering from lock to lock--sort of a thunk, about a full steering wheel turn before the stop. 2) Also, now the front Husky molded mud guards rub the tires when turning in on either side, especially the passenger side. I removed the 4" lift the truck came with, and it didn't make any sounds when steering before. Has anyone had these issues after the spring upgrade? I'd really appreciate any feedback.
Thanks.

Cary,
I had an installer do the job--he came highly recommended. I'm going to have him look things over; what should I have him look for?

Re: Installed V and F code springs

Nope. I didn't have any strange noises or interference with the Husky flaps. However, I am running the stock 265/75/16 tires. What size tires do you have? I have heard that 285/75/16 tires will rub those flaps.

Re: Installed V and F code springs

Towrig,
I have 265/70/17 on the X--it is an '05 EB 4x4 6.0. I looked at the mud guards and it looks like I'll have to trim about 1.5" from the side that's toward the frame to clear the tires as I'm turning. I'm not sure what might be making that sound? Cary mentioned the torque on the track arm--anyone know about that?

Husky's and 285's and mine doesn't rub anywhere. It didn't at stock height and still doesn't with the V codes. One side looks close, but no rub at all.

Re: Installed V and F code springs

Guess I heard wrong. I am glad they will fit though. My next set of tires will be the 285's.

Re: Installed V and F code springs

A pop noise is more related to the trackbar ..have him use a 5' extension to a 3/4 T bar and use locktight and get it TIGHT! No impact will get it tight enough.

Only other thing it could be is ball joints, they can pop when getting worn.

One other thing all shackel and spring bolts should be left lose till the truck is on the ground then tq'ed with Locktight.

Re: Installed V and F code springs

Cary, thanks for the info. I'll have the guy check the trackbar and ball joints. Although, I only have 30k miles on the truck. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
Thanks again!

Re: Installed V and F code springs

Since it had a 4" lift on it before, was there maybe something that was done then that didn't change that should have when going to the V and F's.

Re: Installed V and F code springs

Re: Installed V and F code springs

If I understand you correctly, the 4" lift came with a dropped pitman arm and a longer/lower bracket for the trackbar. These were replaced with factory parts. Just to be sure, is the trackbar the same as the panhard bar? The stock one was used even with the lift, and I didn't add one that's adjustable.

Re: Installed V and F code springs

Track or pan same thing. If when the X was sitting on the ground you could put the Track bar bolt back in "without" forcing the Axel over to install the bolt then you don't need one.
