Interior, running board lights.

I would like to put a switch inside where I can prevent the interior lights and running board lights from coming on when opening doors. I would have them operate most of the time but there are occasions when the lights need to be off. I'm looking for ideas to accomplish this without pulling the fuse.

Re: Interior, running board lights.

Wire in a switch using the factory fuse socket itself as the power source (in and out) by using a couple male blade terminal ends. Install an inline fuse in instead. Quick and dirty and around $8 for the whole works at Radio Shack. Otherwise you are going to have an impossible rewiring task.

Verbal diagram:

blade end installed in hot side of factory socket
attached to aftermarket fuse holder with fuse
attached to switch
attached to 2nd blade end
installed into cold side of factory socket

Kevlar door liners
thermal reflective insulation
electic propulsion for silent running and reduced infrared signature
ammonia and infrared body signature reduction equipment
night vision goggles and scope
And don't forget to wear your body armour...

Used to play with Hydrazine, can be bad news, rubber up.

Yeah, it's nasty stuff- but I don't think it will be a problem if I can use it up fast enough...
Actually, you're the first person to even comment on the Hydrazine...

So would it help if I just left the garage light on so you don't have to tote around the night vision?

Re: Interior, running board lights.

Sure, leave the light on, saves batteries. It'll be a little easier with the Hydrazine too.

Re: Interior, running board lights.

The 6 door ajar switches (one at each "door" and two on the "liftgate") feed 4 circuits to the GEM. Each front door has its own circuit, the pair of rear doors is on the 3rd circuit, and the liftgate gets the 4th circuit. I merely spliced in 4 toggle switches near the GEM. This was after doing the WD40 thing (lasted a little while), and after replacing all 6 switches. Now I just turn off the offending circuit.

Re: Interior, running board lights.

I did this to my Beast when it was one month old. Here's the Link
As it states, there originally was a photopoint site that had very nice shots of the exact wiring, but that is long gone. Enjoy!
