It's a beast...

I didn't really have a question... I just wanted to brag.

Took the 3rd seat out of my X, and laid down the 75% 2nd row.... leaving just the 25% for my 3 year old's car seat.

In the back, we loaded up our new washer and drier (in the boxes).... their two elevating pedestals, and a dolly.... with my son still sitting in the back seat on his own little "island".

The warehouse loaders couldn't believe it. They swore we were gonna need a truck....

It's cool isn't it?

Is it the the front load Maytag Neptune's? They're sweet! I flipped one door around so you stand in between them with the 2 doors opened to the outside and unload the washer and load the dryer quick and easy!

Re: It's a beast...

Yep, I've done the same thing and put down moving blankets and a couple long 2" x 4" 's that I slid numerous sheets of 4X8 drywall on and hauled to my house when I was hanging rock in my lower level My brother's trailer I would normally use was gone I always keep my third seat out now and keep moving blanket in the back as I'm always hauling something at work.

Re: It's a beast...

Sorry this is not about the Excursion, which is awesum...anyway I have the Duet HT Whirlpools stacked. Only one problem.. the washer handle, it likes to crack around the screw holes. Notice there is just two screws holding it on. I have replaced the handle twice.

Otherwise a great washer and dryer.

Re: It's a beast...

On your handle problem go to a Lowe's type hardware store or a regular hardware store or a plumbing house and get a tube of [Oatey Epoxy Putty}. When you go to replace or repair it take a piece of fine sand paper and scuff the porcelain coated surface under the handle where It will not show. Then cut a piece of it off the tube and knead it until it turns a uniform gray in color. Then apply some on the part of the handle where it wont show. Put it in place and snug the screws. If you have room on the inside of the door I would get a pan head SS screw with the same size threads as the one that came with the handle. Screw it down nearly all the way and put putty around it and then finish tightening it. You would have to literally break the handle to get it off now. I have used this putty for a myriad of repairs and it has not failed me yet. It will not stick to some plastics like the HDPE which looks and feels like Tupperware.

When you start first kneading it you have about 4 minuets to get it where and how you want it because it starts to harden then 5 minutes is max. If it is in a place on something that will show you can wet you finger and smooth it out a good bit before it hardens. I keep some at the house just in case I need it.

Hope this helps. Ed

Re: It's a beast...

All I have to say about the X is it is one helluva evacuation vehicle. I had just traded my Y2K X in on the 05 and I broke her in when Rita came ah blowin' through. I had to run. The eye of the cane set over our area for over 18 hours. you would be surprised at how much I packed in the thing and I still could have put in more. I went more than 500 miles one way out to central Texas below Kerrville. and had to spend a couple of weeks at my sister's house in Sugar Land. All total I put about 2,500 t0 3,000 miles on it. Nothing but comfort on the long runs. No problems at all except for one aggravating one. Does anybody know how to turn the but warmers off other than the dang switch on the dash? I happen not need it when the temperature is above 40* F. Damn things come on even at a 100* F. The things make a cycle after you tun them off and that is every time that you start the big ol' beast.
