Just bought an 02 4x2 X, Need some advise

I needed some more towing power for my car trailer, 12000#. (had a 454 Suburban. The Excursion I bought is somewhat unusual as it is labeled XLT but has a rubber floor and steel wheels? Some kind of Utility vehicle? It's all black which I prefer over the two tone. Here are my questions.
Tires and wheels? I need LT rated tires for towing the big load but I want some larger wheels. Anyone have 18" wheels and if so what tires that carry a LT Load Range D? How wide of wheel will fit? 9.5?

Tires who makes a highway tread 275 65R18 or 285?

Carpet What is the best source for some OE quality replacement carptet?

Thanks Next I'll get into the power mods.

Ford made an XLT SSV (Special Service Vehicle, I think). It is a stipper (base) model. The only X available with a front bench.

Think of it as an Excursion XL.

In 2004, it's called the XLS like all the other stripper SUV's from Ford

Sounds like what I have, but mine has all kinds of options other than the rubber floor and steel wheels. Has adjustable pedals, keyless entry, dual air, full sound system, power seats, windows, locks etc. Does have a bench front seat, interior is cloth, I like that better too. Ok how about some tire and wheel info guys??

I put Cooper Discoverer 285/75/16's as a replacement. They are a great riding, D range tire. All terrain, but feel and sound like highway tires. I would compare them to Michellins, but only 600bills for the set.

I want to go with a 18" wheel so it looks a little different.

Re: Just bought an 02 4x2 X, Need some advise

Theres a 4X2 X in the Fall 2003 issue of Truckin' mag. ( it has a blue F150 and blue / white F250 crew cabs on cover) The X is on pg.258 its got 24 x 10 wheels w/ p305/45r24 tires. Looks like 10in. wide works. With proper wheel offset and tire comb. it should look good.I think the 24in. wheel is a little rediculous but an 18 would be cool. Re: Just bought an 02 4x2 X, Need some advise

There are great deals on ebay for weld racing blems like this Weld blems . The price you see is pretty much what you'll pay.

Mine are 20x8.5's, 5.125 backspace. I use 275/60/20 Goodyears wrangler HP. They have an adequate load rating for the X, and have been smooth and quiet for 18K now. Plus they are cheap, about $125 ea.

Congrats on the new toy.

Sounds like you have done what I plan for my X. Do you have pictures? Is the photo on your post your tire wheel package? Are the fenderwells stock or did you add flares?
