Just bought an '02 X with 7.3L for the Mrs....need advice

Just picked up and '02 X with 7.3 PSD for the wife yesterday in Phoenix and she is already head over heals for it (glad i talked her into the diesel) .....My truck is an '03 F-250 with a 6.0 so this makes us a complete Diesel family

I posted to ask for advice on general maintenance on the X and for the 7.3 i.e. power train, oil change, fuel filters etc. etc... I do all the maintenance on the 6.0 and plan on doing the same for the X. It took me awhile to learn the in's & out's of the 6.0(still learning) So I want to start educating myself on this 7.3 ASAP!

Any info, advice, or comments anyone has will be greatly appreciated..

Thanks in advance,

JB

Re: Just bought an '02 X with 7.3L for the Mrs....need advice

It didn't take my wife long either to fall in love with the X. A couple weeks and it was tough to trade vehicles for the day with her, still is! Best trick it to fill up the other trucks and give her the keys.

Maintaining the Excursion will be the same as the F250 and most of your filters and such will be a little cheaper with the 7.3.

Depending on the miles and maintenance done to it until this point will determine what you will need to do. When I bought the X for my wife in 03 with 104K miles it had brand new tires on it and the extended warranty had just expired so the vehicle was in tip top condition. Didn't do any front end work until 165K miles. Paid just over $20K for it out the door, been an outstanding vehicle.

Thanks for the reply,
The Ex has just over 80k on it We are the second owners.Did a carfax report that showed regular service done, Has new tires and aside from a few minor flaws it's in very good condition. We are extremely happy with it! It cost us a little over 21k out the door.

Thanks again,

JB
