Just bought a 2000 Excursion!

Hello all. I have been on this site for the last year here and there. I just finally got my first diesel. I want to know what I can do to make it faster and a little better on fuel, but still not break. Are the best things chip, exhaust, and intake? IN MY OPINION, here are the modifications in order of when they should be done on the performance question you posted.

1. High Pressure crossover hose ($40)
2. High-flow intake...either AIS from Ford or aFe Magnum Force ($200-400)
3. Straight-piped or straight-through muffler on OEM exhaust ($50-100), or a new 4" exhaust and downpipe ($400-500)
4. Mild programmer like Hypertech PPIII ($350 or buy a used one...mine may be for sale soon)

4. Gauges
5. 3 or 4 position chip
