just hit a deer with the wifes x

My wife just hit a deer with her 02 X the deer died instantly. the X is going strong with only minor damage to the front bumper. the only thing is the bumper seems to be pushed back and down about one half inch. i looked under the X and can see no distortion to the bumper mounts. is there some sort of colapsable part built in here? what should i look to replace?
Thanks Johnhenry

Re: just hit a deer with the wifes x

You could just pull the bumper and shim it sraight. Otherwise it is a rather big job and no do not use a chain and a tree to pull it out

...but if you do choose to do it that way, make sure someone is filming it, so maybe the video can win the $100,000 prize!!

Glad to see the wife and the Excursion made it okay. My friend's wife just hit a deer with her Windstar; $7,000 in damage. I hit a large deer with my F150 company truck about 6 months ago. Killed the deer, but only $100.00 in damage to the truck. Gives all new meaning to the motto "BUILT FORD TOUGH!"

I can just see the new X commercials:

"Hit 200lb. deer at 50mph and keeps you going down the road. Just a twist of the wrist washes the blood right off the windshield with our powerful wiper blades and fire hose spray system. The 2003 Excursion...only from Ford!"

Re: just hit a deer with the wifes x

I think they need to make it a variation of the Porsche "Litter" commericals where the 3 Porsches are driving down the road and the first two raise so much air that the litter flies and the third guy grabs it. In the new commerical it's a PSD Pickup with a butcherblock in the rear and a guy standing there with a cleaver and wearing all white. The deer get's hit, flies up and into the bed RIGHT ONTO THE BUTCHER BLOCK!

PETA would love that. It would probably boost X sales.

Re: just hit a deer with the wifes x

PETA- People for the Eating of Tasty Animals! Glad to hear the EX and it's occupants are OK. Try that stunt with your fuel sipping Hybrid. My sister in law had a suicidal deer run into her Focus (driver's door) and caused over $2800 in damage!

It's really a shame that Ford is dropping this vehicle. Having had GMC Suburbans and Lincoln Navigators before, I can honestly say that even after a few months with this truck, it is the best vehicle we've ever owned. Ford are you listening?
