Just Ordered My New EX!!!

Hey group! I have been researching this group and the PSD and the EX for awhile, and today we bought one and will take reciept of it Friday!!!
I have read all the pro's and con's of the EX and the PSD, and decided to take the plunge.
This replaces my 1994 GMC K2500 454 4x4 as the tow-horse and people mover for my family and my 2001 32" TT.
Any advice for the new owner of the Last model year EX???
Thanks for all the advice I have seen here, and I may be doing the bags sway bar and torsion bars later.
Thanks, Garry K

Good job. I got an 05 in December. You'll love it, I love mine. Plenty of room for the kids and dogs, and good power.

Re: Just Ordered My New EX!!!

I looked into an 05 today...List of $53,155 with the family plan and 2000 bucks rebate...it totals, $42,692. Plus Tax etc. Black, limited.

I have an 01, 7.3 with 55,000 miles on it...The truck has been great...Just would like to get into something new...Personally though, I like the sound of my engine over the 6.0 and my seats are for sure nicer...on and on I could go...but I have this itch for a new toy.

My question...with the Family Plan and rebate, can a better deal be made?

I shure don't see how!
I paid invoice + fees and feel ripped off by comparison!

Re: Just Ordered My New EX!!!

We will pick ours up tomorrow, Black Limited with DVD skid plates etc just about everything available. List was 55,xxx, with the family plan it was 44,xxx + tax and license. They only wanted to give us $3000 for our 1994 Suburban K2500 454 4x4 SLE. So I kept it, and placed it for sale personally. Hopefully it sells before the first payment is due .
Thanks for all the info, and I think we got a really good deal, plus they found us a bank that got us 5.25% financing for 84 mo!!! So we are pretty happy
See ya Garry K

Yes, but not much better.

When I ordered my '05, we agreed on a selling price of $500 back of invoice, plus fee's.

When it came time for delivery, and with the new family gimmick just being announced, they honored our agreement and sold it to me for the A-Plan price (family deal), minus the $500, minus the $2,000 rebate, and also an extra $500 rebate which I had from a solicitation letter from Ford.

The $500 came out of the holdback money, which is reimbursed to the dealer when they sell an A-Plan vehicle. Ford doesn't expect the dealers to eat the holdback, and sell a vehicle for no profit, so whenever there is an A, D, or X-Plan sale, the dealer gets reimbursed from Ford back up to the original invoice amount. Therefore, the dealers profit on an A-Plan sale is essentially the holdback (plus other funny money that Ford offers...stairstep, factory incentives, etc.)

With about $2,200 in holdback money on an EX, the dealer makes about $2,200 plus any incentives on the deal. So, they CAN negotiate on the price further (even though they won't tell you so) if they want to. In this example, the dealer would "profit" about $1,700. That is more than they would make if they sold a Focus for MSRP!

That is why the ads are starting to pop up in the papers saying "better than family plan pricing for this weekend only!!!, only at Rip-Your Head Off Motors!"

Confusing, for sure. But that is what they want to do to you.

For the average buyer, this current program can't be beat. Just watch out for the Finance guys. They will be hitting you with everything they've got. They need to make their income somewhere...
