This is the kind of stuff that is killing the excursion

I suggest you read this guys review at

http://autos.msn.com/vip/heraudover....68&src=vip

He states the following:

Fuel Economy: It is very low with either of the four engines, varying between 12 and 8 mpg depending on load. Range tops out at a little over 186 miles.

186 miles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [censored] That has to be a typo 8x44=352 miles at its very worst. This thing is full of many other falacies. I'm too lazy to post them all. He does at least state that the #1 advantage of the vehicle is......thats right "POWERSTROKE DIESEL"

To produce a good evaluation of the X is to drive it for a full tank with both the V10 and Diesel then come to his conclusions

Re: This is the kind of stuff that is killing the excursion

My everyday car gets 25 MPG. Most of my friends drive Tahoes, Suburbans and get 14-15 MPG tops. Yet they still call me a gas pig for buying an X.

I use my X to pull a 8000 lbs. trailer. Ain't no Honda Prius going to do that. No Chevy Ecotek either.

My 1990 5.0 Mustang doesn't get as good as mileage as the Excursion

Re: This is the kind of stuff that is killing the excursion

I can't pull the link out of my hat right now, but somewhere over on EPA homepage, they have a "GREENIE" rating. Of coarse the X rated only a 2, but what was real interesting was the 1 rating of everything else, Tahoe, burb, and I think EXP.

Edit:

Was not as hard as I thought
http://www.epa.gov/greenvehicles/suv-03.htm

Have to pay attention to the motors, and I do not think the PSD is in the mix

Re: This is the kind of stuff that is killing the excursion

I posted this on Jan 29...
I was just at MSN Autos and read a review of the Excursion by Daniel Heraud and he gave it a 0% (0-100%) on fuel economy.
"Fuel Economy: It is very low with either of the four engines, varying between 12 and 8 mpg depending on load. Range tops out at a little over 186 miles."
Is this guy an idiot or what ? With the 44 gallon tank that is 4.2 mpg. And this guy is the author of Road Report:The Motorist Bible as sold on Amazon.com.

About the same reaction as you.

Re: This is the kind of stuff that is killing the excursion

That review is just plain stupid!

#5 CON: "Far-away center part of the dashboard" What the schmuck does that mean and why is it a con? If it was closer to the driver could you still call it the center or is he just saying the truck is too wide?

Re: This is the kind of stuff that is killing the excursion

If the knucklehead reviewer guy wanted dash items closer without really reaching out with his stubby arms he shoulda gotten in a Volvo VN series class 8 tractor or a KW

No kidding Joe,all the carbon monoxide from their gasoline wasting cars

When KTP ends production of the Excursion they'll look upon us as,"Wow you have an Excursion" sorta like when the Hummer was first produced for civilian purchase

Re: This is the kind of stuff that is killing the excursion

Actually it might be sort of cool when Ford does do away with the EX because it will become sort of a collectors car.
