Larger Wipers

For those in rainy climates - I noticed that Ford only provided 20" wipers leaving quite of bit of windshield real estate untouched. I measured and it will take 24" wipers, but that left an excessive amount of passenger side wiper hanging off the curve of the windshield, so I went with the 22" Bosch wipers. ~$20 and a five minute install and you can see so much more out the front.

Really suprising that they only outfit the Super Duties and Excursions with 20" when Chevy does 24" on the Suburbans...

Re: Larger Wipers

seseattle.

You're right. I've had the 24" Bosch on since day one, two years ago, but I recently noticed that there is an excess amount on the passenger side. I was wondering how 24" on the drivers side, and 22" on the passengers side would work? It seems like the 24" works fine on the drivers side.

Re: Larger Wipers

24" blades fit perfect on my F-350. Another member pointed out that in snow this does place an additional load on the wiper motors which may not be good. But, since I'm in NC not too much to worry about there. I'm guessing that unless your in the mountains in WA you probably see mostly rain too.

Re: Larger Wipers

I've got the 24" Bosch's on mine and notice no such excess

I have at least and inch and a half clearance to the windshield edge when they're parked, and almost 2" of clearance to the top of the windshield.

I can't imagine using anything smaller.

Re: Larger Wipers

I also have 24" bosch on my Excursion. No excess on passenger side and no strain on wiper motor. I use RainX also so the wipers are not needed all the time.......
