Not sure what we will do. Really do not want a Suburban, Yukon XL, or Denali.

We're talking about getting a new 6.0 pickup to add to our fleet so the production end of the Excursion won't effect us even tho we'd like to see them built for years but it's Ford

Well I know what I am going to do with my X someday, re do the interior and ship it to www.fordcummins.com for a new motor.. Of course that is in about 10 years or so, till then I will just drive the heck out of it and be happy.
There is susposed to be an bigger explorer coming out, same size as the X. I doubt it will have a diesel option, but at least there will be a bigger ford.

I was reading about what GM is doing in the passenger bus industry. The new drive train GM is using is electric motor powered by two generators attached to a big diesel engine. The story went on to say that GM is going to use the same concept in large SUV's. This is the future. I would like to see an Excursion with the hybrid system. Would have good economy and faster off the line accelerations without a chip. GM says maintenance is less
I just don't understand Ford. I can go on about my different reasons, but I think there is a need for a larger 3/4 ton SUV. I know I'm seeing a lot of Xs in fire departments, military, etc. I think this could be used as a marketing tool for Ford, if they just put a little more time and effort into the X.
I have an 05 on order.
And, glad that I do.
If it is the last year, I will worry about a replacement in another 5-10 years.
By that time, Saudi Arabia will be another Iran, Iraq will be another militant Muslim country and we will be converting to a hydrogen economy- painfully.

Second: I've said it once before but I mean why doesn't for build a Lincoln Excursion, rich people don't buy Fords they buy Lincoln's, they want the Lincoln experience, Ford was first with the Navigator but let GM beat them with the Escalade ESV (which took them waaaay to long to figure out), I mean the R&D on a Lincoln Excursion would be very little and the profits HUGE!
Third: In that article it talks about how GM is losing sales on their old SUV's (Tahoe, Sub) why don't they drop the duramax in there, I know I've seen a few posts here that as soon as that happened their Ex was gone, just curious on that one...

Little more. Ford put ZERO effort into the X compared to what Chevy does with the Suburban. I get Trailer Life magazine and they have ads for the Suburban but I have never seen an ad for the Excursion. But even with zero effort the Excursion still out sells the 3/4 ton Suburban. If the Excursion was a F250 Crew Wagon it would be marketed like the F250 but since it's a SUV and the Sierra Club wants to eliminate them Ford made a deal with them to dump it even with the $10,000 profit on each one.
