Too late, I ordered the Edelbrock's. They are taking along time to arrive. I used that 1/3 off coupon from carparts.com. Figured out to about $56 per shock with shipping. Ford should just use a shock like Bilstein from the factory and save us all alot of time and effort to improve how the Excursion rides. Same goes for the rear anti-sway bar and steering stabilzer.
The Edelbrock come with a 30 day trial. You may want to keep your options open if you see some positive feedback from people with the new Bilsteins on their Excursions. I should be able to give an initial report next week when I install the front pair that are on their way.
It would be nice if the factory did all this, I agree.
The Bilstein price each for the shocks for the F-250/350 are $65. See the web page for the pricing of the Excursion shocks http://www.eshocks.com/bil_veh.asp?M...Make_Long=Ford also note the HO part # designation.
They must be some shock!

how many of your precious dollars got separated?
We do appreciate you dedicating your vehicle to suspension research, Ford was busy engineering the cupholder upgrade
Thanks, I am glad to be able to offer my opinion of these products to others.
The 4 Bilstein shocks came to a total of $300 including shipping. I got the two front shocks today and installed them. I have only driven a few miles so far but they seem to be firmer and at the same time smoother than the Edelbrocks. It will be easier to tell once I have them all the way around.
The Edelbrocks I removed were easier to compress than the new Bilstein. I have felt the initial ride quality with the Edelbrocks deteriorated some after these 5,000 or so miles of use. Still, they are better than the stock shocks by far.
For about the same money I'd have to say the Bilsteins seem to have the edge but I can better determine this when the rears are in place and I have a few miles on them.
ExcursionPSD, Hi, I just ckecked out the site you refered to. Those prices are in line with what I have been selling for 20 years. I was a Mercedes shop owner, and Bilsteins are standard on the MB line. It would be rare to replace a Bilstein after only 75,000 miles, given normal road conditions. I guess you get what you pay for, at least I would hope so. Seeing how long the OEM shocks last, I think it's not that bad a deal. After all it is an EXCURSION

Eagle, What a coincidence, 1300 hill st EL Cajon is on a side street, about 2 blocks long. I have been there several times, as the engine builder for my race car has his shop in unit A. I was there just 3 weeks ago. I will call him tomorrow and have him get me a set. Small world Thanks

This is pretty weird---I spoke to a young lady at Billstein today, and she informed me that their shocks for a PSD Excursion won't be out until early next year---the gassers are coming out now----I told her about this website, and specifically the PSD Excursion forum, and she said she'd keep us informed. So, either she's out of whack, or our guys are buying something different.
I heard the Bilstein shocks for the 2wd Excursion are coming later.
I got the front shocks for the 4wd last week, correct part number, and called the California Bilstein customer service today to get an update on the expected arrival time for the rear shocks. 11/10/00 or 11/14/00 are the dates I was given.
Bilstein part # for Ford Excursion 4wd:
Front - BE5 6208
Rear - BE5 6209

Bilstein part # for Ford Excursion 4wd:

Rear - BE5 6209
[/b]

Are these numbers for Diesels, or gassers, because, apparantly, there are different shocks for those 2 applications (according to the lady I spoke w/at Bilstein).
The rear Bilstein shocks for the 4wd Excursion are available now. I'm expecting two to arrive by the first of next week.
4wd Excursion w/V8 diesel & V10 gas engines;
Front: BE5 6208 HO
Rear: BE5 6209 HO
I think 2WD Excursion part numbers are front:BE5 6206
rear: BE5 6207
Those interested should contact a dealer or Bilstein in California at 1-800-537-1085 to verify.
