leather steering wheel - Diesel Forum

Ok, with my truck coming up on 10 years old and over 150k on it, the leather on my steering wheel is falling apart! Actually the only real wear that shows. Has anyone tried rewrapping it? Is there a fix?

I got an 02 navigator steering wheel w/ wood top and bottom. Some ebay sellar has wood Excursion ones for sale sometimes too.

Yep, they do get mushy and black....bought mine wood/leather off e-bay, a guy there makes them really nice, no core needed...

Cost me around $180, worth it every penny.

Just looked it up, $300 plus intall, with the airbag I bet a body shop should do it, plus a puller. I bet you could buy a navigator one from ford, pllus this one was tark cherry, I want a tan one.

I found this site, genuine replacement covers, you have to stitch them on but doesn't look that difficult. Ford Leather Steering Wheel Covers

The one on the listing above is not the same as mine, you want what I got, a tan and wood one.

I am sure he will soon have them available.

Easy switch on the controls and airbag.

if you go to one of the online ford dealers you can buy a new one for around $200. one for my 99 was $189.

It said "extra controls"....I have everything, radio, volume, channel, temp, fan, cruise, CD, DVD, you name it I can control it from the wheel.

Ya, these wheels only accept cruise and airbag. Lucky for me thats all my Limited had in 01.

I got a grey leather wheelskins cover for my 2000 Ex and everyone that has seen it thinks it is stock. It was a bit of a pain to put on, but I like it.
