LIFT KIT

Has anyone heard that a 4 inch lift kit, with added leaf springs and different shocks (no changes to frame, no holes drilled etc.) will void the new car warranty? Ford dealer is saying it does (as I might expect he would). Warranty book says in the items not covered section, "damage caused by....." Certainly does not say anything about covering those items not associated with the lift kit, like the engine, trans, rear, 4x4, and everything else for that matter...Anybody know anything or have any advice?

Search back a few months in Four Wheeler for an article about how this is bull***t that dealers try to do, but it's not true. There's some Federal law that protects you.

Or just threaten to take your business to a dealer who wants you and your lifted truck.

There are two local dealers near me and both had no problem at all doing warrantee work on my lifted X.

I would say the dealer is choosing not to allow any warranty work on a modified vehicle. Usually they have to prove that the modification caused the problem and we as the consumer need to hold them to that. If they still dont want to warranty it, take it to a different dealer.There are many dealers in my area that sell the X off the lot with 6" lift and 35" BFG MTs. Also remember that if you do modify your truck or X,if you can help yourself by pulling your chip or maybe borrowing a set of smaller tires when it goes to the dealer for tranny problems [img]images/icons/laugh.gif[/img] ( been there, done that) you may avoid some of these problems. My .o2 cents.
