Re: Lifts

Donahoe Racing seems to a prefered lift giving a better than stock ride and quality stuff. Several pictures on their site. Look through the forum and you'll see a bunch that have theirs lifted, and include links to pics in their signature.

Welcome to the site!!

Re: Lifts

It looks killer. How does it ride? Did the kit come complete or did you have to buy extra parts? Did you install it yourself? I have looked at some of the Superlifts and they look nice. Where did you order the kit from?

Re: Lifts

Check out my Photos, I put on a Donahoe Racing (Edge) 6" lift kit. I replaced the rear blocks with 8" springs. I replaced the stock panrod bar aswell with the adjustable one Edge sells. Now I'm fabbing some custom torque arms and installing firestone ride rite air bags. I towed this past weekend and It felt great! Nice and firm but not anoyingly STIFF like my old F350 did.

Brent.

Re: Lifts

Mine's below. I have the 6" Donahoe all spring lift. 8 Inch springs rear - no blocks and I run 37's with fiberglass front fenders. Great lift, nice ride.

Re: Lifts

All of them look great and I thank you all for your imput. I really like the way skygod looks and am leaning that direction. I know that Edge maybe be the best ride but thats a lot of money. Do you think that I will be able to fit 37's under a 7" lift?

The rear will be fine, but the front will rub significantly when turning at the rear of the fenderwell.

The DR 7" lift is actually the DR Superduty 6" Front springs and their Superduty 8" Rear Springs. This gives a net 7" lift on an EX. With my EX, the tires still rub when I go off road, if the wheel is turned a bit and flexing at the same time. It would be real bad if I didn't have fiberglass front fenders!

Re: Lifts

Hey Jon, Nice EX! I have to ask you...Do you get a vibration from the rear wrapping forward under load between 55-65 mph? I got it pretty bad and if I excellerate VERY! slowly through that range of speed it's practically not there.

I'm also wondering if you shimmed your rear after removing the blocks like I did?

Like I said above I'm almost done mt torque arms and hopefully it will get rid of the vibration under load....It's funny though, It wont do it under "regular" excelleration ALLLLL the way up to that speed! Once I hit that speed it will do it until ~65MPH

Also, About your 10.4" monitor....I tried to find a place here by me to buy a 10.4" flip down monitor kit for a dvd player and No One around me had anything! They said they can only fit an 8" monitor in the headliner because that's all they make to go in them! Anyways, I find it funny that it's the biggest SUV on the market and they only make an 8" monitor kit for it

I found a place in Florida that makes a kit and they shipped it to my door for the same price the "other" place in my area wanted to sell me the 8" monitor kit!

Brent.

Nope - can't say that I do. Mine rides great!

I don't really know what this means? But when looking at the springs, there is nothing between the springs and the spring pad on the axle - so I don't think I have any shims.

I got mine from a budy with a high performance shop. It's a complete Myron and Davis system with 10.4" monitor, seperate DVD player and a Trim Plate/mount that follows the contours of the ceiling. Myron and Davis is scheduled to release a 12 inch monitor for this same trim ring - or so I am told.

Hope that helps.

Re: Lifts

Guzman75,

Thanks, I am not sure if you could get 37's under it. Maybe with an 8" wheel. I think 36 x 13.00's would be nice, I think Mickey Thompson makes some. I know my 7" Superlift is about 1 1/2 inches higher than my previous 2 Excursions with 6" Pro Comps. My 315 16x10's do not rub under any circumsatances, plenty of room. The ride is better than Pro Comp, Fabtech, and Skyjacker, not as good as Edge. I got the whole deal from 4 Wheel Parts. The lift comes with the Bilsteins as part of the package, a big plus. The downside is I had to have the driveshaft lengthened due to vibration. That will cost a few hundred bucks. You may get lucky on that. It seems anything over 6" on the X and you may run into DS issues. Some of the advantages of 315's vs 37's are, better milage, cheaper, speedo can be corrected easily up to 35's, and easier to tow. The 37's look the best IMO though.

My Dad went with a 4.5" Edge on 315's for his 04 X and it rides incredible. You can get the 4.5" fairly cheap, pretty close to the cost of the Superlift, and you save on the DS lengthen. Both come with the same shocks.

I think 37's could be doable on mine with some minor trimming.

PM me if you need any more info, prce etc...
Carl

Re: Lifts

Which drive shaft did you have to extend? I really didn't want to have to go thru that much trouble. I wanted to lift it 7 or 8" but if I have to modify that many parts I think I will just lift it 6" with 35's. I am also wanting to use Skyjacker or maybe Fabtech which one is the best. Thanks for your reply.
