Line X'd the front Bumper

I have the limited ultimate with the mono color painted steel bumper, I stripped it of every bracket and plastic and had it sprayed black, I then put the plastic back on and it looks great...and will never rust again. I did all the work to prep and it was $75 to spray, I also had the pro comp bar done, it was a powder coat and was rusting. I sand blasted it for $20 and sprayed it for $40. Even though it is black it fits well with the Mineral Gray. I have pics to down load, it really turned out great. It took 2 hours to grind every rust chip to metal, then I bought the paint and had it put in a can, after all the work to get it off I could not just paint it again, it had to be the last time, so the line X was the answer.

You're a bad influence today...

I was struggling with some ideas for my beat up painted bumper. That's a great one. And, yes, pics, please post 'em!!

(Ordered splash guards too, thank you very much!)

I will have pics up tomorrow. People notice it and ask and my bumper was an embarrasment, from far it was ok but up close it looked like it was hit with a shot gun and soaked in salt water. The bugs really come off easy now too.....

Finally....had to buy a card reader........now I can transfer pictures....The Line X is under the plastic too so there will be no peeling, the Pro Comp bar was done too, it all turned out better than I thought. The pained bumper was a rust bucket so if you have the Limited Ultimate and hate the front bumper this is the answer, painting it would just rust again....not anymore, it is good for life now.

So you took this to your local line-x shop and they sprayed it for $75? That's not bad. We have a Rhino liner place here. I may have to go talk to them. My black bumper is starting to look like crap. Have you thought about doing the rear bumper to make it even?

Looks great MotionMan.

Is this the same Pro Comp bar that you have and is just a crappy picture of it?

About what you paid?

Thanks.

Yup, same as Rhino, I did all the prep work, all they did was hang it and spray...I will do the back, it is getting bad too. Thats not the same bar, mine did not have pieces, it is one piece. I went right to pro comp. The bar has been great, it is solid as a rock.

Line X bumper

That does look good. I have the same bumper and might do the same. I have always wanted a road armor style bumper since deer are a huge problem here, and the occasional elk. There is a place here that builds custom bumpers, but you are looking at 2 grand pretty easy, but, it you hit a deer its hamburger and your rig is fine. I have seen alot of people spraying the rocker panels too, and that is what I am planning on doing. The bumpers, and rocker panels with Line X. I plan on getting a aftermarket hood and spraying it too. I think it looks better than paint, but not all bed liners are created equal, that is for sure. Line X is by far the best I have seen and has a warranty. I sprayed my 89 suburban, the whole thing, with herculiner and it was faded and peeling within 6 months. Anybody who wants the best looking hood you can get for an X or superduty, check this out.

eBay Motors: Ford Super Duty Ram Air Hood 99-07 F250 F350 SuperDuty (item 290133247813 end time Oct-18-08 11:03:33 PDT)

Its all personal preference of course, but I think this bumper is awesome. With all the sand and crap they put on the road here, having line X on your bumpers and rocker panels really makes sense, and having a hood sprayed would avoid any rocks chips.

The Limited Ultimate is a mono color truck, bumpers, grill, trim....everything is painted. The painted bumper on my truck started rusting after the first winter, I let it go until it made me sick, then I did this, it was not the only but it was the best way to make this a one time deal. After one summer it is still like new and the best is the clean up, bugs just blast off with water. Now for the back, even it has some rust from chips. The dealer would not cover it and I showed them right away. The one benefit of the painted bumper is it is thicker than the chrome one, it is noticably thicker by sight.

Ok this is an image of the front end of my X. Does this look like an Ultimate to you? If it is an ultimate I can;t find any information on what exactly the ultimate package was or what makes it an ultimate other than the paint scheme your telling em about.

Yes, yours is an "Ultimate" Limited. You can do the Line X easy and would never notice. All the Ultimate does is mono color the trim. This was before the Line X, bar and PIAAs.....kind of plain.
