locking hubs

I have a 2000 ex and the problem im haveing is the auto hubs are locking on their own. I unlock them and can spin the axle by hand then go for a ride and check them again and the axle is engaged until I lock and unlock them again. What is going on here???

Re: locking hubs

They are dirty inside and/or the spring is weak or clogged with dirt, you can take them apart or replace them, I replaced mine and this stopped. Take them off and push your finger in the back and work the thing around, I tried everything and they still would not release, I made it under warranty but not anymore. I would ditch the whole system, get some good warns and just use manual lock. Thats what I do because I have a leak that this idiot mechanic keeps screwing up, this is try 3. I run the highway and it gets nasty in the UP and N MI. I like to be able to go in and out and with the auto you are going -0- to 60 with the drive line and thats not good. So I say do it the right way, then you know it is in FWD.
