Ok, This is my first time posting here but I have read some. I am looking to buy an X. How bad ,really is the 6.0? Should I avoid it completely. I found one ,a 2004 with 52000 very clean. Eddie Bauer with all options except dvd or sunroof. Whats a good price for this.
The 6.0 is a fickle beast. Mine has been good and it's been reflashed (just had the 06e17 done and it's good).
Oil viscosity is the biggest bugaboo about them. Run the right oil and you'll be fine.
An 04 EB well loaded should be in the mid to upper 20's. Check out kelleys blue book (www.kbb.com) and use it as a starting point.
Good luck.
Mikie

I love this truck!!!
Hi Ex,
I have a 2005 Excursion Eddie Bauer with the 6.0 PSD and 2000 miles and, so far have had no problems with it. It is a nice driving vehicle. It was built 09/05 and was one of the last ones. I have a 2005 F-350 Superduty with the 6.0 and it was troublesome at first, however, it seems to be doing fine now. I dunno, take it for what it is worth. I have had no problems with the 5-speed TorqueShift on either vehicle. Craig.

I was looking at used prior to my purchase of an 05. They seem to hold their value real well they seemed to be right around $38 to $40,000.

Craig glad to hear you got over all the problems you had and that the X so far has bolstered your faith in the 6.0
I will hit 25K soon, like this weekend no significant problems and no over night stays at the dealer so I am happy.
JUST NEED TO FINISH BUILDING IT!

Well, thanks for the info. I bit the bullet and bought a 2004 Eddie Bauer with 6.0 Power Stroke. My wife really liked this one and I have to admit it does seem to run stronger and quieter then the 7.3s we test drove.
OK. Now y'all are making me rethink my decision to go with a 7.3. I figure here pretty quickly I'll run across a real good deal, and I'll just buy it and whatever is under the hood is what I get.
