Re: Looking for an X what options should i be looking for?

Over all there were very few changes in the X as far as I know the 02s had about all you could get I had an 02 and have an 05 only differece I can think of is rear ent system very early 02s had VCPs latter ones like built in 02 have DVD not sure if rear ent was avail in 2000 but may have been also not sure if reclining second row seats were on what models from day one.

Also general concensis is stay away from 03 6.0s 02 and 03 7.3s are fine

Does not matter what year you buy IT WILL NEED MODS I will be doing all the same to my 05 that my 02 had.

Re: Looking for an X what options should i be looking for?

The 03 ended up with the same power as the SD PU, I think earlier years were a little de-tuned. Otherwise close to the same, find an 03 with the 7.3 and you will have it all. The grab handle on the drivers side is nice also, with the lift I have I use it every time, otherwise you grab the wheel and over time it will come loose. Get the limited ultimate and you can get every option offered in one package.

The limited ultimate? Ive seen limiteds but not ultimates? Im looking to spend 30-low 30s MAX. Id like under 40K miles also, seems to be a few floating around now. Im looking at this one not too much info but its close and the milage is good for the price in my market.

Is the "ultimate" the one with t eh wood or fake wood on the doors and center counsole lid, ive seen that on some of the interior pics, or is that all the limiteds? Looks VERY nice in the pics, wondering what it looks liek in person.

Under the post box when you're raplying, there is a box labeled Instant UBB Code and in that box is URL which will allow you to post or edit a post to add a link without using the 47.9 miles long URL which stretches the entire thread out to 49.7 miles wide. The Limited Ultimate included the extra electronic gizmo's etc. You won't see "Ultimate" anywhere but on the sticker, but it has a few extra goodies. I don't recall but I don't think it's anything that you can stand back and see. It was used up to 2003 I think. After that, the Limited was just the Limited and the Eddie Bauer could be had with the Eddie Bauer Premier Group which added the extra gizmo's the Limited had. So, you could have all the "stuff" in the sportier EB trim or the more luxery Limited trim.

Re: Looking for an X what options should i be looking for?

sorry about that, on the other forums im on it automatically shortened it for me. Considering im a post whore with thousands upon thousands of posts on a couple boards youd think i knew what i was doing.

But back to the X's i just read about how everything after october 00' got less desirable powdered metal rods instead of forged. That bothers me since i was looking to make some real power with this truck. I saw talk of 400 hp or less causing the rods to fail and the forged ones handling 700 or more HP. Whats the factory HP and TQ rating on these motors? I know 400 is alot of power, but im kinda like tim allen in that i always think MORE POWER is better. Just trying to soak up as much knowledge as fast as i can so i get what i want from my new truck. Thanx for everyones help by the way!

As I recall ultimate added stering wheel controls heated and or memory seats and power pedals My 02 was an ultimate. As said all that is included in the limited or EB prem. package now not shure when it changed but if you have the above you have it all except overhead ent system (always an option) and your choice of Cass Tape + Single CD or 6 disc changer and your choice of second rwo seating reclining bench or Cap Chairs

Limited slip was always an option
and the trailer tow option (sway bar) became an option in 04 may have been some spotty availability in 03 seems like it came, went then came back.
