Manual Locking selector frozen - Help Please

Went to manually turn the hub selector from Auto to Manual just to keep it free, but right side is frozen. Won't budge from Auto. Any thoughts on this? Need to lube? Left side is a little sticky, but does move. Thanks.

Re: Manual Locking selector frozen - Help Please

if you go back in time there are threads on this subject.

look at the hub. there is a stone in the center of the hub about 1/8 in wide and couple inches long. that stone will absorb a penetrating oil. spray the oil several times on the stone till it quits absorbing the oil and then let it sit for awhile. then go back and try moving the hub. it may take a pair of plyers the first time to get the hub moving but you will feel it freeing up with each rotation. I'm by no means an expert on this but thats what the threads of the past said. Apparently, the stone absorbs the oil and delivers it to the mechanism. Hope someone can verify this and you guys don't shoot this messenger. lol It seems to work on mine.

The stone is to let air in and out to operate the hub. However, it also allows dirt and oils to get.
