Max Tire size and lift

I have been looking through all the posts for several months now on this issue and still have several questions. For those of you with the BFG 295 75R16 tires, what are the mud flaps you are talking about? I have a limited and assume that you are not talking about side molding around the wheel wells that look like a small mud flap. I looked and it seems to follow the wheel well and doesn't seem to stick out beyond that. Has anyone installed these tires on a limited? Did you have any problems?

It seems that you can only go up to the 295 tires which are roughly 33" without any modifications even if you get knew wheels. If I want to go up to 35" tires without having to cut the wheel wells, what is the minimum lift required? I have been struggling with this for some time and could use some help. I would like better off-road capability without completely sacrificing the road characteristics. This is why I think getting the biggest tires with smallest lift would be best for me.

Please help!

Re: Max Tire size and lift

The mud flaps that rub are the moulded plastic flaps added by your dealer as an after market item. They rub the 295's slightly. After 10-15K miles it should stop.

I am not interested in doing a lift. The 295's are plenty big. They fill the wheel well nicely, raise the whole rig close to an inch and perform like good road tires.
