OK, read all the threads and was skeptical, but still hopeful.
I bought the X 6 months ago. Traded in the Trans-Am that i used to Roadrace with. It did 13.5 in the 1/4 @ 105mph.
I loved the room of the X, need the pulling power to haul my Offroad vehicle. So I thought I would just have to be content with the school bus type passing power. No complaints with ride or towing abilities, but missed the 2nd gear chirp I had on demand in the T/A.
Well.....With the microtuner in place, I have the seat of the pants thrill of throttle response again. What a differance! I love it.
The test is tomorrow though. Told the wife it didn't work. Now we'll see if she notices the differance.
Kelly, Here's the e-mail that sold me on the Micro-Tuner.Actually, we have something much better than the Superchip module for the Powerstroke diesels, we have our new Micro Tuner, that allows you to simply reprogram the ECU by connecting to the OBD-II port in about 6 minutes!
This unit has both the CARB-certified (emissions) program that adds 60 horsepower and 115 lbs./ft. of torque, but also the "Off Road" program, that adds 80 horsepower and 150 lbs./ft. of torque!
With this device, we no longer need to know the vehicle computer code, etc., as this unit will automatically read the ECU's code and then automatically upload the corresponding code-matching performance program, the Micro Tuner has *all* the various codes for any 1996 thru 2002 Powerstroke diesel already inside.
This is a revolutionary device, as it's the first time that anyone has ever made a device that is still code-specific, but that you don't need to know the computer code for, it does all of that transparently, in the background.
The Micro Tuner is normally $419 plus shipping, but for you, you can get in on our introductory pricing of just $325 plus a few bucks shipping, that's our F-150 Online discount right now, which is the lowest price we sell those units for to anyone. This price will probably be raised in the near future, that is an introductory price, just so you'll know.
These units are in stock and currently shipping. We still have the traditional Superchip module, and it is the same price, so the Micro Tuner is a much better deal, this is the way to go. We even have it in our online ordering system, with our F-150 Online discount at just $325 plus shipping, and the URL for our online ordering system is below, at the end of this email. You can always just give us a call to place the order as well, which ever is more convenient.
All the best,
Mike Troyer

I too installed the SCMT yesterday. What a difference. I only have it in the 60 hp mode until I get a pyro. The power is great, but the shifting is the biggest difference to me. The old programming shifted like a bucket of slush. The new programming shifts firm, and stays in gear longer, which is great becasue our neighborhood is very hilly. I have a 5 mile drive to leave the neighborhood that drove me crazy with the stock programming. I want to try the 80 hp this weekend for the fun of it.
Just ordered mine from DIS yesterday, however they are on backorder and it won't be in my hands unitl next Friday.
Any black smoke under hard acceleration? Any problems thus far?
Thanks

No smoke. Biggest deal is to leave your key in the "ON" position for 60 seconds after installing with the PATs system. It needs to learn your keycode. After that it's transparent.
Drivability is much better. Waiting to see if my wife notices and differance though. We'll see tonight after she has driven it all day.
( This is her daily driver, she should notice a differance ) I only get the truck on weekends.
Thanks GOFAST! I was wondering how they got around or delt with the PATS system. Can't wait for it to get here!!! Did you use the 60hp setting or the 80 hp setting?

Here is the post from the Upgrades section... do a search on SCMT and you'll find a ton of information. This is the best price so far and the contact was great to deal with:
I like the darn thing so much I bought one for my brother. One of the members has found a really good source for us on the SCMT. I got the second one from Dave at ProPower.
Here is some of his email to me:
I agreed to provide members of the www.ford-diesel.com website some of these units for $305.00 plus $10.00 s&h in the 48 states. I will do it until Superchips makes me stop. They think I am letting them go way too cheap. I give a 30 day "customer satisfaction" guarrantee and they have a lifetime warranty from Superchips. I ship all orders within one working day of receipt of payment.
Here is a link to his place: 954-491-6988 M-F 10am-6pm EST www.propowerparts.com ... Really nice folks who think the Ford-Diesel.com folks are worth a little something extra. Like I said before the only to describe this thing is AWESOME!
The X is actually my wife's. She loves the scmt, AND MAKES THE TRUCK DRIVE MORE LIKE HER OLD 5.4liter expedition. She said she actually scared herself a couple of times by pushing the accelerator like before and the truck took off.
Tell me how a MicroTuner or other chip help.
When I tow my boat the mileage drops almost 50%. For example, if I am traveling at 65mph without the boat on the interstate I get around 20 mpg. With the boat and triple axle trailer 7500lbs, my mileage drops to about 10mpg. I have plenty of pedal left and the X is not in any strain.
I am on a relatively flat surface so there is not any transmission shifting while towing. How/what would a chip help in this situation but not adversely affect my mileage when I am not towing? I want better mileage when towing.
Thanks,
Bill

Biggest way to explain it is by saying the truck performs much more like a sports can than a 8000lb SUV. the SCMT improves the overall performance so much you will actually be out of the Go Pedal more... and the Smile on your face will be from ear to ear... Like I've been saying, the only way to describe this thing is AWESOME.... I dout you'll be sorry and look forward to your first "AWESOME" post.
