Middle Seat Down for Good??

My son folded the passenger middle seat down to set his TV as always while traveling. Got home and seatback will not unlock so that I can fold it back to upright position. Any suggestions?

Re: Middle Seat Down for Good??

Did you try sitting on the seatback to see if it would relieve the pressure off the handle?

Re: Middle Seat Down for Good??

I doubt you broke anything. I loaded my X with 2000 lbs of concrete a while back and 1000 lbs of that was on the back of the middle row folded down.

I had about 10 4x4 posts that the concrete was sitting on so half the weight was entirely supported on the seatback.

Re: Middle Seat Down for Good??

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who has (or had) this problem........ I thought I would never get mine upright again, but I ended up just pushing down while pulling on the lever and then pulling up really hard several times before it came up - have not had the problem since, so I don't know if I cured it or it is a problem lurking for a more inconvenient time....... I did it by myself - maybe you could get some help - don't be afraid to break it, it is useless until it is upright again as it is........ Re: Middle Seat Down for Good??

I know what you mean about the middle seat....I've always had trouble determining which lever does what.....But there is also another factor to consider, and that is for me, because I'm tall, I have a tendency to push the FRONT seat back, and I find the rear seat hooks up on it and won't come UP...push the front seat forward a little just might give you the clearance you need....Try it, it just might work for you...

Re: Middle Seat Down for Good??

I have had this happen a couple of times. The seat is actually jammed against the bottom cushion, which is jammed against one of the front seats. Move the front seat forward and then also push forward on the seat bottom to relieve the pressure. This should help. Good luck!

Re: Middle Seat Down for Good??

Thanks to all. Went out and pushed down hard on folded down seat back then pulled the lever. It folded right back to upright position. Thanks for all the suggestions.
