I just put 285's on the x. When driving on the freeway, every 10 miles according to the mileage posts, the odometer reads that I've gone 9 and 8/10's. Would that mean that at 49 mph I would be going 50? If so then if my computer reads that I'm getting 15 mpg am I getting 15.3? If this is confusing please just ignore.
Thanx for help

Yes your are correct. In other words, what that means is you have a -2%+/- speedomemeter and odometer error. For the avearge miles per gallon calculator in the Excursion, you will also have a -2%+/- error. Remember, the correction factor is only as good as your measurements. A good approximation at best.
Appreciate the affirmation. Is Edgewood anywhere near chase? Above Baltimore? We were just there two weeks ago. Took the x on her maiden voyage (new to me anyway) averaged 16 mpg on the way out. About 600 miles. Puting 75 hp TS chip in tomorrow. Hope to see improvement. Fished in the Chesapeake, had a blast. Looking forward to return.
Nate

Nate - Edgewood (Harford County) is about 10 miles north of Chase. Love the Chesaeake Bay. It is to get hooked. Within 2-1/2 hours from this area, you can be in the Mountains, be at the Ocean or running around several large cities. Great experiences. Now if we could do something with the hot, humid summer weather.
Have a great week,
John

I think you went the wrong way with the miles per hour and mileage example. Putting on larger circumference rubber will make the odometer and the speedometer read slow (ie -Actual speed and miles will be more than indicated speed and miles). You did go the correct way on the miles per gallon calculation though. Therefore, indicated 60 mph would be more like actual 61-62 mph.

Joe - Thanks. I corrected the post. I guess that is what happens when you are trying to think in the middle of the night.

I'll take them! Could you please deliver them anytime between November and March to Boston, MA Thank you...
Also, you can go to here and look at the rev's/mile. Then divide your tiresize by 650 and get the percentage underreport the tires are causing. If you ever get the bug to have your speedo recal'd for the new tires, you might want to rethink it. I had mine done and my truck just doesn't seem to drive the same. Keep in mind this is all "seat of the pants science".
