Mirror Swap - any advice/help appreciated

I'm finally going to make the change from the paddle to the trailer tow mirrors. Any tips or advice from those that know or have made the swap? I've pulled the triangular cover off the post, the housing for the switches, I see the little screw under that; what else? Thanks in advance.

Re: Mirror Swap - any advice/help appreciated

Be very careful when you put the screws back in if you drop any of the screws down in the door panel it realllly sucks trying to get them off...you have to take the entire doorpanel off to do this swap (the wiring harness connects behind the door panel. Also watch for the wiring harness in the way of the window track after you hook up the new mirror...goood luck

Re: Mirror Swap - any advice/help appreciated

I love this forum! Thanks for the responses. I feel confident switching to the pwr/htd mirrors, but will leave the upgrade to the signal style for another day.

I suppose since I'm upgrading from Pwr/Htd Panel Style to Pwr/Htd, Telescoping style, the wiring/plug will be an exact plug in replacement?

Thanks again!

Without back reading some threads I can't see why it wouldn't be a straight swap

Re: Mirror Swap - any advice/help appreciated

Thanks again guys for the info. Did the swap this eve in about 1.5 hours. No problems. Was very careful not to drop a nut from the back of the mirrors in the door. Love em so far. There was a little sqaure piece of foam that looked like it was stuck on as an addition at the bottom corner for the paddle mirror (on top of the weather striping). Was that suppose to come off and be placed on the foam liner for the new mirrors? I did not do it as it looked like the new mirrors had all the foam/weather striping they needed.

Now you're driving Truck Style

I'm not sure on the foam liner from the paddles, maybe it was cosmetic just to fill the gap

Watch for oncoming alike Superduties with the TT mirrors,Rich has been having some bad luck with meeting other TT mirrors lately on tight roads.

Re: Mirror Swap - any advice/help appreciated

Went and looked at three superduty's. None of have that square piece of weather stipping under the bottom side of the flange. I guess that's only for the paddle mirrors. Thank goodness. That means my project is complete!
