I have the heated sideview mirrors that came with my '00 Ltd---can I install the telescoping mirrors like the ones that came on my 00 F-250 Lariat Crewcab PSD?? If so, what does it entail??
I changed mine to the trailer mirrors also.... It took about 1 hour total.
1) remove door panel & speaker.
2) Un-plug electric plug to mirror through speaker hole.
3) remove black trim piece inside door behind mirror. (pull)
4) remove (2)black hole plugs
5) revove (4) hex nuts & mirror.
6) install new mirror.

Heat is standard with the Excursion, just make sure you order the Excursion units. The trailer mirrors come with the same wiring harness as the Aero mirrors.

Have you Ford parts man go to the Excursion/Expediton/Explorer accessories catalog and get the kit to convert power mirrors to power trailer tow mirrors, it will be ??? 17682 ??.
All Excursion mirrors are heated, anything else wouldn't be civilized.

Based upon the great information in this thread, I have ordered the (heated) TT mirror conversion kit for my new X. I'm not sure, but I think the TT may use different switching to control the 2 mirrors per side. Can someone set me straight?
Also, is a special tool needed to remove the door paneling? Anything else to know about up front...it's been a long time since I've done much do-it-yourself; but now I'm inclined (somewhat due to the encouragement to us all by Excursion PSD and others).
I just did the install of the trailer towing mirrors this week. It was a very easy install.
The wiring harness is the same. The bottom convex mirrors are not electric, you have to use the old fashion finger adjust for these.
There are no special tools required for the door panel install. Just remove two screws (one under the door lock/pwr window switch panel and one behind the courtesty lights) and the door panel lifts right off.
This is a good do-it-yourself installation that will give you confidence to go on to bigger and better things.
