What is Monochromatic Paint and what does it look like? Are there any web sites with pictures?

Since the current Excursions are available in one color already, I assume that it must go one step beyond and have the same color on the mirrors, running boards, grill, etc.

It really wouldn't take much work to get the matching paint and finish off the few pieces on the truck that aren't already painted - if that's what is wanted.
Is it possible the monochromatic option is on the Limited? In other words, you can get all the other cool stuff on the Limited but not be forced to get those tan plastic panels... (i.e. the factory gives you what several people here have created for themselves!)

What other than the wood grain panels is available on the ltd vs xlt?
It was because of the 2 tone and cladding that I did not go with the ltd and I did not care much for the wood grain. I know the leather quality is better in the ltd that is why I had aftermarket put in my xlt which happened to be Ford SVO leather which actually seems nicer than the ltd leather without the ltd monogram.
I got my xlt with everything except heated seats (Central/South Texas)and the back up sensor because it was not yet available and I new I would be changing my rear bumper for a ranch hand.

Different style wheels. I prefer the new polished XLT wheels myself.
Factory fog lights.
Speed sensitive wipers.
Rear entertainment system. (I think. I have conflicting documentation on this at home.)
I think that's it. I'm going from memory.

Who is taking orders? My dealer doesn't know ANYTHING about 2002 models.
If some dealers are taking orders for 2002 models that means there must be a 2002 ordering guide somewhere. Has anyone seen this?
ABoater, where did you get this information?

Read carefully, we are talking about PARTS that will be standard on the 2002 models, that will be involved in this monochromatic option of the 2001 models.

Do you sources say whether or not there will be more colors than black available w/the monochromatic paint???
