more Alpine audio stuff installed (subs in rear doors)

I had a couple amps and a couple subs installed recently. Actually, the install started about a week and a half ago, I finally got the X back. I am very, very pleased with the results. I purchased the following

• Alpine 4-channel amp to power the component speakers;
• Alpine 2-channel amp to power the subs;
• 2 10" Alpine Type R series subs;
• and had the subs installed in the rear cargo doors.

The subs sound great, the doors sealed off nicely, and there are very few rattles. Even when listening for rattles on the outside of the X I can't hear any obvious ones. I always laugh at the vehicles that drive by and emit more rattles than actual music, so this was a concern of mine, particularly because of the latching assembly for the rear doors. It's holding up very nicely!

I still am using the factory 5x7 speakers which are decent, but nothing spectacular. Definitely the best speakers that have come in from the factory from Ford. These will get replaced sometime in the future, though.

Check out my pics I have online by viewing the link in my signature below.

Nice setup! I'm not sure if I would have thought to put the amps there, good idea.

This is off the subject, but, what kind of floor mats do you have? Are you happy with them?

The amp location was the only place we could think of without getting into expensive install work. Plus they are out of the way of everything, for the most part.

My floormats and cargo liner are made by Highland Group Industries. They are molded specifically for the Excursion. I purchased them from carparts.com. I have floor mats for each row of seats and a cargo mat. They are somewhat pricey for floor mats, but they are the kind I like. I have found that one winter ruins any type of carpet-based floor mat, so I really needed a rubber-molded style. I just hose them down when I wash the X. My only gripe is that the driver's side mat tends to move around a bit and doesn't latch to that little hook on the floor. Small price to pay though for keeping the carpet clean.
