I ordered my pod from egauges.com and I painted mine to match. You can get a can of interior paint from ford, they are pretty proud of it though. I've heard reports of $17 for a can of paint. I was lucky enough to have a friend let me use his can. Also, you will need some plastic primer so the paint will bond correctly, The stuff to use there is Bulldog made by Kleen Strip. Here's why:
Ready? Introducing Klean Strip Bulldog Bond•Flex•Tie Coat. We can probably get away with calling it BFT for short. We’ll skip all the chemical jargon and just say this product is an answer to prayer. It combines the functions of an adhesion promoter, flex agent and tie coat. BFT greatly enhances the adhesion, appearance and durability of all types of finishes...even when applied to oddball plastics. Now that’s saying something. At last we can forget trying to identify the material we’re working with by searching for some code number or symbol on the part, forget cutting off a scrap to see if it floats, sinks or whatever, forget setting a chunk of smelly plastic on fire to see if it’s smoke is purple or not...enough! No matter what plastic you’re working on: SMC, BMC, PUR, TPO, this stuff makes paint stick to all plastics.
That's real important, 'cause the last thing you want is to have your paint flaking off of your pod. Also, remember to use several thin coats. I did two coats of bulldog and I think 3-4 thin coats of the interior color. The first coat of interior color will not cover but don't worry, you'll get it in the next two coats. If you spray a heavy coat, you'll obliterate the surface texture of the pod and get drips/runs. If you have trouble finding the bulldog stuff, try talking to an auto body place. They may tell you where to get it, or may be able to lay a few coats on for you. My friend had this stuff too, so that saved me a lot of trouble.
Oh, and here's a long shot of the finished product:

Michael,
Thanks for the great tip... I want to order my guages stuff today from egauges. I posted a question earlier on what to order, for which you helped me out, but I have 2 remaining questions from the egauges website on sending units and kits for these gauges:
-On tran temp sending unit do I need "bushing Kit"?
-On the boost gauge kit did you get black hose? Which kit did you order to get the right length of hose and right fittings?
Thanks again, Clif Smith.
I tried to email you that 'mystery plug' pic last night but I think the email returned. I used the address on your profile.
The bushing kit is not necessary. The 1/8-27 NPT probe is a direct fit into our tranny. You only need the bushing when you are trying to go into a hole that is not a direct fit. Don't know if I told you earlier, but the 3/8" sender is what you want.
Yes, I got the black hose. Get the 150-104 gauge and the R7110-10 tubing kit. 6' will most likely work, but 10' is pretty cheap frustration insurance. The tubing kit should include all the fittings you need to make it work. If you have any questions, give them a call. They've always been very helpful.
