Re: MPG Question

About the same. The Ex and your truck, if equiped with the same 7.3 and gear ratio or the same gas sucker and gear ratio will get very similar fuel economy. Same trucks, just a bit of a weight change and the bed is covered on an Ex :] The Ex is heavier, mine goes 7985 lb with 1/2 tank of fuel and just me in it. I go 200 lbs.

Re: MPG Question

I average about 16mpg. Varies with time of year, city vs. highway driving, and how fast I go.

Re: MPG Question

I get:

12 to 14 city - going to work(10miles round trip)
18 to 22 highway - speed 65 to 72
10 to 14 towing - speed varies/flats and mountains
I can get as high as 24 at 55mph flat land.

Re: MPG Question

I've got a 2001 7.3L 4x4 PSD Excursion, 80K miles, and over the last ten tankfulls I've averaged 21.3, hand calculated. Over the life of the truck I've averaged 19.8 MPG, again, hand calculated. As your probably aware, the overhead display tends to be a little optimistic. The highest MPG I've ever averaged on a tank is 22.5 and the lowest is 16.3 MPG. I commute 100 miles a day in mixed driving. 50% on rural interstate and 50% in heavy stop and go Nashville traffic.

My mileage has gone up because I've changed my driving habits. I keep it under 60MPH and drive like I have an egg under my foot.
