Mud on running boards

My xcar builds up mud on the running boards after coming down the 3 mile long parish road that leads to my house. Thus when you get out you track mud in the garage and when you get in the truck you track mud into it. Other than molded plastic running boards has any one got a good looking fix for this??

Re: Mud on running boards

Curt - Same problem here with mud/snow/ice buildup. When I bought The Beast a year ago Ford only sold mudflaps for the rear for the XLT. So, (I'm so ashamed) I put the front mudflaps from my Dodge Cummins on the front of the X.

Now, Ford sells both sets for the X and I went in and picked up the front. Don't like 'em - too small and I started getting the buildup again. I put the bigger Dodge mudflaps back on - problem solved.

But, I'm hoping someone out there has a lead on some oversized molded front mudflaps for the X. I want something better looking than the Dodge ones - and besides, there's just something wrong with having front mudflaps with the Dodge Rams Head logo on my Ford.

Re: Mud on running boards

curtjones

I brought this topic up a little while ago. My post: http://forums.ford-diesel.com:8080/u...ML/000666.html

I’ve put the Husky splash guards on the front and rear, they do a decent job and look good too. I still am accumulating crud on the back of the running board so I’ll be doing the flap there very soon.

Really like the Husky splash guards, ordered from Cabela’s – you have to call and speak to Special Orders to get the right ones for the X: http://www.cabelas.com/texis/scripts/store/+/CatalogDisplay/display POD/CabFALL1998/CabFALL1998AhAGAC/XA926N

I ordered the Husky floor liner, center liner and the floor mats too, all from Cabela’s http://www.cabelas.com/texis/scripts/store/+/CatalogDisplay/browse/CabFALL1998 /CabFALL1998AhAHAC

I put the liners in to see how they fit and then put the mats on top just to get a look but because I was lazy I left the liners in and was then going to take them out later. My plan was to use the liners when we were in real snowy or muddy conditions and use the mats for everyday use, expecting they would do fine. I’ve never taken them out. We’ve had some regular snow here and I just left them alone. Funny thing with both sets in – they don’t look bad or over done – they’re right in character with the PSD X – macho car. Personal taste, of course. Granted when there’s not so much crud to be tracked in, I’ll go back to one or the other.

I would have ordered thru Geno's Garage, to support F-D.Com advertisers, but they didn't have any of these items in stock. They were kind enough to point me to Cabela's. Please support the advertiser's on this site when possible.
